Abstract: A mobile device may be configured to monitor its systems and subsystems to detect a flashing command from a flashing tool or source, generate and store a flashing request value in a secure area of the mobile device in response to detecting the flashing command, send the flashing request value to the flashing tool or source, and send a notification message to a server computing device of a trusted entity. In response, the mobile device may receive a notification-response message that includes a secured flashing request value from the server computing device, and determine whether the secured flashing request value matches the flashing request value stored in the secure area of the mobile device. The mobile device may ignore or discard the detected flashing command in response to determining that the secured flashing request value does not match the flashing request value stored in the secure area.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods are provided for ultrasonic fingerprint sensors that are able to be used to detect fingerprints from opposing sides of an apparatus, e.g., a smartphone with screens on both sides of the housing. Some implementations of such sensors may include, for example, two piezoelectric and sensor pixel layer assemblies coupled to a common controller. Other implementations of such sensors may include, for example, a single piezoelectric and sensor pixel assembly coupled with a controller configured to apply a range-gate delay to obtain fingerprint scans from either opposing side of an apparatus. Yet further implementations of such sensors may include acoustic masking layers to spatially filter ultrasonic waves propagating to either side of an apparatus.

Abstract: An electronic device with a camera uses UV light to sanitize objects such as surfaces or hands. An object is identified by the electronic and placed at an optimal distance from the electronic device. At least part of the object is exposed to UV light emitted from the electronic device for a sufficient duration to achieve disinfection. In some implementations, instructions are delivered to a user associated with the electronic device to position the object so that a remainder of the object is exposed to UV light for disinfection. The electronic device may be moved relative to the object to continue disinfection. In some implementations, an indication is provided of the status of disinfecting the object.

The first device interacts with the second device, in accordance with the determination.

Abstract: A mobile device may be configured to determine, in a secure portion of the mobile device, whether a non-volatile indication (e.g., a fuse or non-volatile bit or flag) allocated to lender binding has been set. A mobile device processor may query a payment server associated with a lender of the mobile device to determine a next payment due date in response to determining that the non-volatile indication allocated to lender binding has been set, and select an operating mode for the mobile device based on a difference between the next payment due date and the current date.
