Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for reducing timing drift where a UE computes an NSSS based timing error using a cross correlation. Next, timing drift is measured as the difference in timing error at two NSSS instances separated by a time duration. The timing drift value can then be mapped to a raster offset.

Abstract: In some aspects, a method for a user equipment (UE) is provided. In some examples, the UE determines a signal quality for communicating with a node. The UE determines a coverage level based on the signal quality, wherein the coverage level indicates resources to be used for communicating with the node. The UE determines a maximum repetition level and a repetition value, based on the coverage level, for communicating with the node. The UE generates a multibit repetition range identifier that indicates the repetition value based on the maximum repetition level. The UE transmits the multibit repetition range identifier.

Abstract: An aspect of the present disclosure includes methods, systems, and computer-readable media for receiving, at the UE, a random access response including a first signal via a first physical channel and a second signal via a second physical channel from a base station (BS), generating a connection request based on the random access response, estimating a carrier to interference plus noise ratio (CINR) of a random-access channel based on at least one the first signal or the second signal, and sending a message including the CINR and the connection request to the BS in response to the random access response.
