Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for formatting a compressed data packet. The methods and apparatus include identifying a first data string within a data packet that was previously stored at a first memory location in a compressor memory, and generating a first pointer that references the first memory location in the compressor memory. Further, these aspects optionally include identifying a second data string within the data packet that was not previously stored in the compressor memory. Additionally, these aspects include creating a compressed data packet by replacing the first data string with the first pointer and copying the second data string, and including an indicator corresponding to a number of pointers in the data packet.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for power control of uplink transmissions by a user equipment in a way that can reduce interference to neighbor cells. Various aspects of the disclosure decouple the power control for uplink data transmissions from the power control for uplink for a control channel transmissions. For example, one type of power control command may be utilized to control the power the UE utilizes to transmit data channels such as the DPDCH and/or the E-DCH (e.g., the E-DPDCH and the E-DPCCH). Further, another type of power control command may be utilized to control the power the UE utilizes to transmit control channels such as the HS-DPCCH. In this way, the uplink data channels, which can cause substantial interference to neighbor cells, can be power controlled by those neighbor cells to reduce that interference. Moreover, the control channel corresponding to the downlink data transmissions can be controlled by the downlink serving cell, thus ensuring reliable feedback corresponding to those downlink transmissions.

Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to forbidden area procedures and connection release management for a user terminal (UT). Forbidden area-related procedures include, for example, using a special paging area code (PAC) in conjunction with a forbidden area, defining a location reporting threshold for a UT based on the proximity of the UT to a forbidden area, or using a default paging area code if a service restriction for a UT has ended. Connection release management includes, for example, a UT sending a request to cause the release of a Radio Connection that the UT no longer needs, or a UT sending a Location Indication (e.g., including a flag requesting release of a connection) to release the connection used for location reporting when a UT is done sending the location information and is going to go back to idle mode.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for introducing uncompressed data packets in to theinto a compression flow during compression for communication between a user equipment (UE) and a network entity, comprising placing a plurality of data packets in an uncompressed uplink queue of the UE; determining that an amount of data packets in a compressed uplink queue of the UE fails to satisfy a grant threshold; and transferring one or more of the plurality of data packets to the compressed uplink queue from the uncompressed uplink queue based on the determination that the amount of data packets in the compressed uplink queue fails to satisfy the grant threshold, wherein the one or more of the plurality of data packets in the compressed uplink queue are scheduled for transmission to the network entity as one or more uncompressed data packets.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for signaling adjustments include identifying, by a user equipment (UE), a change in a reachability state of the UE based at least in part on one or more channel metrics determined by a modem in the UE. Further, the methods and apparatus include adjusting a transmission of connectivity signals (e.g., keep-alive signals) to a server from an application on the UE, the adjusting being based at least in part on an indication of the change in the reachability state provided to the application via an interface in communication with the modem (e.g., modem application programming interface or API). Additionally, the methods and apparatus can include transmitting an indication of the change in the reachability state to the server. Moreover, the methods and apparatus may accommodate signaling adjustments for one or more applications on the UE and one or more servers in a wireless communication system.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for interference reduction between wireless communication devices of overlapping basic service sets (OBSSs). Some aspects more specifically relate to signaling mechanisms associated with an OBSS channel sounding operation and power control mechanisms associated with OBSS interference mitigation, either or both of which a first access point (AP) associated with a first basic service set (BSS) may leverage as part of a coordinated beamforming scheme with a second AP associated with a second BSS. In accordance with OBSS channel sounding, the first AP may associate a set of sounding packets with one or more parameters indicative of the second BSS such that the sounding packets appear, to OBSS stations (STAs), as in-BSS sounding packets. Additionally, or alternatively, the first AP may employ a power control mechanism according to which the first AP may apply portion-by-portion transmission power control.
