Abstract: This disclosure presents processes for improving the quality of NR PDCCH reception at a UE when transmitted in a same orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol and a same frequency domain resource element as an LTE CRS. Using a capability parameter of the UE, a network node can transmit an LTE CRS and NR PDCCH in the same OFDM symbol and the same frequency domain resource elements using various encoding schemes. The encoding schemes can be one or more of puncture signalling, superposition signalling, relative power levels, UE type, adjusting the AL of the LTE CRS, or various combinations thereof. The UE can decode the PDDCH using the encoding scheme. Legacy UEs can be supported with this disclosure by the network node selecting supported UE capabilities for the encoding. The network node can balance transmission reliability with available resources.

Abstract: According to an example embodiment, a method may include determining, by a user equipment in a wireless network, a starting physical resource block of a common physical resource block grid that is associated with a wideband channel, wherein a plurality of bandwidth parts are provided within the common physical resource block grid, each bandwidth part having a bandwidth that is less than the bandwidth of the wideband channel; determining, by the user equipment, a wideband channel guard band for the wideband channel, the wideband channel guard band provided between a lowest frequency of the wideband channel and a first usable physical resource block of the common physical resource block grid; and, determining, by the user equipment for at least one bandwidth part of the plurality of bandwidth parts, a bandwidth part-specific physical resource block grid that is a subset of the common physical resource block grid.

Abstract: Implementations of advanced frequency synchronization in a mobile integrated access backhaul deployment are disclosed. An apparatus includes at least one processor, and at least one non-transitory memory including computer program code, wherein the at least one memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to perform: estimate a change in a propagation delay at two time instants, measure a time period of the two time instants using a local clock of a network node, wherein the two time instants correspond to a known timing of a received signal, subtract the change of the propagation delay from the measured time period, calculate a difference between the subtracted time period and a known timing of the received signal; and convert the difference to a frequency offset value to synchronize downlink transmission frequency between the network node and a parent node.

According to an aspect, a method comprises in a transmitter apparatus: generating a Zadoff-Chu sequence for a reference signal; performing a frequency-domain cyclic shift on the Zadoff-Chu sequence; extending the cyclically shifted sequence to a desired length; performing a time-domain cyclic shift on the sequence having the desired length, resulting in a reference symbol sequence; arranging the reference symbol sequence to at least some resource elements of a set of physical resource blocks, and causing transmission of the reference symbol sequence in the set of physical resource blocks.

Abstract: A UE performs first control channel monitoring according to a first CORESET and first search space set configuration(s), the first control channel monitoring performed on n subbands, n>1, able to be transmitted by a base station in an unlicensed band carrier. The UE determines, in response to a detection of a control channel in the monitoring and from the control channel, transmission bandwidth configuration to be used by the base station in the unlicensed band carrier for control channels. The UE performs second control channel monitoring according to a second CORESET and at least one second search space set configuration. The second control channel monitoring is performed on m subbands, m≤n, in the unlicensed band carrier, the m subbands being a subset of the n of subbands. A base station determines which subbands are available for use and transmits the transmission bandwidth configuration to the UE based thereon.
