Abstract:
A method of DRX operation enhancement in adaptive TDD systems is proposed. A UE configures and enters DRX operation in an LTE/LTE-A mobile communication network. The UE obtains adaptive TDD configuration information from a base station. The adaptive TDD configuration information comprises an actual TDD configuration and a reference TDD configuration. The UE performs DRX timer counting and HARQ timer counting based on the reference TDD configuration. The UE also synchronizes DRX status with the base station. With the reference TDD configuration, it can avoid the potential misunderstanding between eNB and UE regarding DRX and HARQ RTT timing when TDD configuration changes.
Abstract:
Systems and Methods for supporting carrier aggregation with different TDD configurations are proposed. In a first novel aspect, corresponding apparatus structure is described. In a second novel aspect, aggregation constraint is discussed. In a third novel aspect, transceiving mechanisms over multiple component carriers in DL/UL overlapped subframes are proposed. For simultaneous DL/UL transceiving, band combination indication methods are proposed, and HARQ feedback mechanisms are proposed. For non-simultaneous DL/UL transceiving, transceiving configuration methods are proposed, and the same HARQ feedback mechanisms are proposed. In a fourth novel aspect, CQI/RLM/RRM measurement mechanisms are proposed. In a fifth novel aspect, UE capability signaling mechanisms are proposed. The objective is to support flexible aggregation, to enhance DL data throughout, and to improve UL transmit power efficiency.
Abstract:
A method of reporting UE measurement state information in RLF report is provided. A UE performs radio measurements of a serving cell and neighbor cells in a mobile communication network. The UE evaluates a measurement reporting criteria and attempts to access the network to deliver a measurement report if the criteria is met. The UE then detects a radio link failure or a handover failure event and reconnects to the network by performing RRC reestablishment or RRC establishment. Finally, the UE transmits a failure event report to the network. The failure event report comprises UE measurement state information corresponds to the failure event. The UE measurement state information helps the network to determine whether to apply corrective actions to mitigate the failure.
Abstract:
A method of inter-RAT failure event report is proposed. A UE detects a failure event in a first cell served by a first base station, and the first cell belongs to a first RAT. The failure event may include a radio link failure or a handover failure. The UE then performs an RRC establishment procedure with a second cell served by a second base station, and the second cell belongs to a second RAT. After the RRC establishment, the UE transmits a failure event report to the wireless network. The failure event can be a radio link failure, or be associated with a mobility command such as a handover command. By providing more reliable information in the failure event report than a network solution could provide, inter-RAT mobility performance can be improved.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method are provided for small cell energy saving. In one novel aspect, switch-off-request is broadcasted by the small cell detecting the low-load condition. The small cells upon receiving the switch-off-request message enter the frozen state, which prevents the small cells from switching off. In another novel aspect, the small cell in the low-load condition request measurement reports from the UEs. The UEs replies with the measurement-reports message, which includes the detected neighboring IDs and the UE's traffic load. The low-load small cell includes the information derived from the measurement-reports in the switch-off-request message. In another novel aspect, the small cell broadcasts the switch-on-request message. Upon receiving switch-on-acknowledge messages from switched-off neighboring small cells, the small cell selects one or more target cells to send the cell-activation-request. The switched-off small cells, upon receiving the request to switch-on, uses a cost function to determine whether to switch on.
Abstract:
A method of radio link monitoring (RLM) and radio link failure (RLF) handling over a small cell network is proposed. In a wireless network, a user equipment (UE) establishes a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a base station (eNB), which is UE anchor. The UE applies carrier aggregation for multiple component carriers (CCs) configured as multiple serving cells. The aggregated serving cells are served by the anchor eNB and other drift eNB(s). The UE performs RLM/RLF over PCELL and SCELL belonging to corresponding cell groups. When RLF happens in a serving cell, the UE and the eNB apply certain actions over the serving cell or all serving cells in the group. RLF procedures in anchor eNB and in drift eNB are proposed. Both UE side and network side behaviors are included.
Abstract:
To support the new characteristics where FDD carriers and TDD carriers provide different services with different QoS or with different coverage or with different mobility robustness, UE enhancements of FDD-TDD network are proposed. In one embodiment, a dual mode UE in idle mode camps on a source cell and determines a target cell based on the cn domain and/or additional paging information contained in an enhanced paging message. In another embodiment, a dual mode UE may establish an RRC connection with a source cell with TDD carrier, and later is handover or redirected to a target cell supporting voice over IMS. The handover or redirection is based on the cn domain and/or the additional paging information contained in the enhanced paging message.

Various examples and schemes pertaining to uplink (UL) transmission timing for non-terrestrial networking (NTN) are described. An apparatus receives, from a network, downlink control information (DCI) indicating an NTN offset for a scheduling delay. Accordingly, the apparatus performs one or more UL transmissions to a satellite with the scheduling delay which accounts for the
