摘要: A method of approach in area cutting includes giving in advance an angle .theta. between a workpiece plane (WPL) and a straight line (SL) connecting an approach starting point (P.sub.A) and a cutting starting point (P.sub.i), and a distance dz between the approach starting point (P.sub.A) and the cutting starting point (P.sub.i) in a direction perpendicular to the workpiece plane. Coordinate values of the approach starting point (P.sub.A) are calculated using the angle .theta. and the distance dz in such a manner that a projection (SL') of the straight line (SL) on the workpiece plane (WPL) is brought into orientation with a direction of a normal line at the cutting starting point (P.sub.i) on a curve (OLC) of the external shape. A tool (TL) is positioned at the approach starting point (P.sub.A) in a rapid-traverse mode, and the tool is subsequently moved to the cutting starting point (P.sub.i) in a cutting-feed mode. Thereafter, cutting is started.

摘要: An angle data discriminating method in a method of creating NC machining data by entering a direction for each block (b.sub.1 -b.sub.5) of a part profile through use of a profile symbol key thereby to specify the part profile, followed by entering a dimension for each block of the part profile and using these entered data to create the NC machining data, the method having a first step of specifying dimensions of straight line elements (L.sub.3, L.sub.4) in predetermined blocks (b.sub.3, b.sub.4) by data including at least angles of intersection between the straight line elements and a base line (Z axis), and a second step of recognizing, by using the angles and the directions of the straight line elements in the blocks, that the straight line element lies on a straight line obtained by rotating the base line about the points of intersection in predetermined directions and through predetermined angles.

摘要: An area machining method capable of generating tool paths with no insufficient cut portion. First, a part profile contour indicating a profile contour for area machining and various machining conditions such as tool radius, depth of cut and the like are preset. Then the outmost offset contour and other subsequent offset contours are obtained, the outmost offset contour being offset along the part profile contour by an amount of the sum of a tool radius and finishing allowance, and the other subsequent offset contours being offset repeatedly from the outmost offset contour in sequence by an amount of depth of cut in the inside direction. Next, contours of insufficient cut portions which are produced between adjacent offset contours are obtained. Subsequently, tool paths each of which connects between offset contours and between an offset contour and a corresponding insufficient cut portion contour are outputted. At this time, insufficient cut portion contours are added to tool paths by changing a tool path to an insufficient cut portion contour if the insufficient cut portion contour is present near the current path while outputting an offset contour as a tool path.

An operator can easily confirm the movement of the tool with reference to both the tool path (7) based on the machining conditions and the tool path (8) based on a machining drawing.

In a case where the registered hole type is designated by a keyboard (14) in the creation of NC data for hole machining, an automatic programming unit (11) causes a dialog screen conforming to the hole type to be displayed on a CRT (13). Hole shape dimensions and tools used in each machining process are specified, and NC data for hole machining is created based on this data.

摘要: A method for defining a profile in an automatic programming system containing previously designated figure elements. Only figure elements which intersect a designated starting point are provided for selection in defining a profile element. Upon selection of a figure element, only points which intersect the figure element along the direction selected are provided for selection of the endpoint of the profile element. Once the starting point and endpoint are selected, the profile element is stored as part of the profile. The endpoint is made a new starting point and the process is repeated until the endpoint selected is the original starting point, at which time the profile has been completely defined.

By revising the corner shape (E.sub.1) at which the error occurred, the revised corner shape is inserted in the new profile (A.sub.0 '), which is displayed.

A predetermined pattern is selected from among the stored approach/withdrawal patterns based on the zone to which the turret index point (P.sub.T) actually belongs and the plane to which the cutting starting/end point (P.sub.S) actually belongs. NC data for approach and NC data for withdrawal are created using the selected pattern.
