Abstract:
An apparatus and methods for communicating in a wireless access system using a medium access control protocol data unit (MAC PDU), the method including receiving, by a mobile station (MS) from a base station (BS), a dynamic service addition request (AAI_DSA-REQ) message requesting to create a service flow, the AAI_DSA-REQ message including a first MAC header type parameter indicating a type of a MAC header included in the MAC PDU of the service flow and a flow identifier (FID) identifying a connection associated with the service flow; transmitting, by the MS to the BS, a dynamic service addition response (AAI_DSA-RSP) message in response to the AAI_DSA-REQ message, the AAI_DSA-RSP message including a second MAC header type parameter indicating the type of a MAC header included in the MAC PDU of the service flow; and communicating with the BS using the MAC PDU.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for transmitting a bandwidth request (BR) header in a wireless communication system. User equipment transmits a standalone BR header to a base station through a first uplink (UL) resource allocated by a BR-acknowledgement (ACK) A-MAP information element (IE), receives from the base station a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-non-acknowledgement (NACK) which indicates the base station has not successfully received the standalone BR header, receives a CDMA allocation A-MAP IE from the base station, and retransmits the standalone BR header through a second UL resource allocated by the CDMA allocation A-MAP IE.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus of receiving a paging message in a wireless communication system is provided. A machine-to-machine (M2M) device monitors paging messages including a group paging message and an individual paging message, and receives both the group paging message and the individual paging message from a base station (BS).
Abstract:
A method for configuring system information, a method for transmitting system information, and a method for transmitting resource ratio information are disclosed. A method for receiving system information elements includes receiving a first message including a fixed-size system information element from a base station, and receiving a second message including an variable-size system information element from the base station.
Abstract:
A method for efficiently performing an initial access in an MS in a multi-carrier broadband wireless access system is disclosed. The method includes scanning a plurality of carriers supported by a BS, and selecting one of the scanned carriers as a first carrier and receiving an SFH of the first carrier. The SFH of the first carrier includes at least one of a field indicating load status of the first carrier and recommended network entry carrier information including information about a second carrier in good load status.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving system information in a wireless communication system are disclosed. A method for receiving system information by a mobile station (MS) of a wireless communication system includes receiving a secondary superframe header (S-SFH) change cycle from a base station (BS), and receiving a primary superframe header information element (P-SFH IE) including a first field indicating a change count of a plurality of secondary superframe header subpacket information elements (S-SFH SP IEs) from the base station (BS). Once each of the plurality of S-SFH SP IEs is changed, each of the plurality of S-SFH SP IEs remains unchanged during one or more S-SFH change cycles.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for performing a carrier management in a broadband wireless communication system supporting multi-carriers are discussed. According to an embodiment, a method for a mobile station to perform a carrier management procedure with a base station supporting multiple carriers, includes receiving, by the mobile station from the base station, an instruction for a primary carrier change; transmitting, by the mobile station to the base station, an acknowledgement message indicating that the instruction is successfully received; and changing, at a specific time, a current primary carrier to one of the multiple carriers within the base station, wherein the specific time is determined based on the instruction.
Abstract:
A method for sending and receiving multi-carrier information in a communication system supporting a multi-carrier includes sending by a base station system information to the terminal via a broadcast message, the system information regarding multi-carriers that the base station is able to support; receiving a unicast message from the terminal, the unicast message including information related to carriers that the terminal is able to support or prefers in the multi-carrier list included in the system information; and sending multi-carrier allocation information including a primary carrier and a second carrier that the terminal will use, to the terminal via a unicast message.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for updating secondary carrier information for preemptively allocating secondary carriers during handover and an apparatus for carrying out the method. A method in which a terminal performs handover in a broadband access system that supports multiple carriers according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a step in which a target base station receives, from a serving base station, a first message including carrier allocation information on at least one secondary carrier preemptively allocated to the terminal; a step of performing network reentry with the target base station; and judging whether the multi-carrier configuration of the serving base station and the multi-carrier configuration of the target base station are the same, and, if the configurations are different from each other, transmitting, to the target base station, a second message for requesting multi-carrier capability negotiation.
