Abstract: A negotiation method for an operating mode, an initiator, a receiver, a chip system, a computer-readable storage medium, and a functional entity are disclosed. In operating mode (OM) negotiation, the initiator transmits an operating mode indication (OMI) to the responder. The OMI includes at least either of channel width indication information and space-time stream number indication information. A capability range of a channel width indicated by the channel width indication information is greater than 160 MHz. A capability range of the number of space-time streams indicated by the space-time stream number indication information is greater than 8. After receiving the OMI, the responder performs transmission with the initiator based on a negotiated OM.

Abstract: A resource unit combination indication method and a communication apparatus are provided. The resource unit combination indication method includes: A transmit end generates a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU), and sends the PPDU. The resource unit allocation subfield indicates a multi-resource unit (MRU) to which a 242-tone resource unit (RU) corresponding to the resource unit allocation subfield belongs, and further indicates a quantity of user fields corresponding to the resource unit allocation subfield. According to the application, one or more users may be indicated to use a plurality of contiguous or noncontiguous RUs for data transmission, to improve RU allocation flexibility of a system and spectrum utilization of the system.
