Abstract: Systems and apparatus for assigning sub-bands to numerologies are provided. A system bandwidth is divided into bandwidth portions, and the bandwidth portions are used as the unit of assignment for assigning sub-bands to numerologies. Systems and methods are also provided for allocating resource blocks over a bandwidth such as a sub-band. The available bandwidth is divided into sub-band portions, and the bandwidth portions are used as the unit of allocation for allocating resource blocks to user equipment.

Abstract: Systems and methods of scheduling grant-based traffic and mapping resources for grant-free traffic are provided. Grant-based traffic is scheduled in a first frequency partition, and grant-free traffic is mapped in a second frequency partition. In a first option, grant-based traffic is also scheduled in part of the first partition, but in a limited manner that ensures a given device's transmission and retransmissions do not all experience interference with the grant-based traffic. In another option, some grant-free traffic is mapped to part of the second partition and is spread in frequency across the second partition.

In one embodiment, first data of a first type of traffic is scheduled in resources that are pre-reserved for a second type of traffic. Control signaling may be used to indicate whether the first type of traffic is scheduled in the resources pre-reserved for the second type of traffic.

Abstract: Current HARQ procedures for grant-based uplink transmissions may not be suitable for implementations in which a UE can simultaneously transmit multiple transport blocks (TBs) to a base station. However, in some scenarios, such as in some grant-free uplink transmission schemes, a UE may simultaneously transmit multiple TBs. Systems and methods are disclosed herein for performing HARQ for situations in which a UE simultaneously transmits multiple TBs to a base station. By using the systems and methods described herein, HARQ may therefore be performed in such situations.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system may be configured to use particular resources to send one or more uplink transmissions. However, sometimes during operation the particular resources the UE is configured to use are not well suited to the channel conditions at that time or result in interference or collision with other uplink transmissions. Systems and method are disclosed in which downlink control information (DCI) may be used to reconfigure one or more resources used by the UE for an uplink transmission. In some embodiments, resource reconfiguration instructions are sent by the base station along with hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback. In some embodiments, a unified downlink signaling format is disclosed that may be used for UEs having different capabilities, with the bits of the unified downlink signaling relaying different instructions to different UEs depending upon the capability of the UE.

Abstract: A system and method for multiplexing traffic. A wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) may receive a first signal over first resources assigned to carry a first downlink transmission from a base station, and receive a first downlink control indication (DCI) message from the base station. The first DCI message may include a pre-emption region (PR) indication and a PR bitmap, and the PR indication may indicate a location of a time-frequency region. The PR bitmap may include bits associated with different portions of the time-frequency region, and each of the bits in the PR bitmap may indicate whether a preemptive downlink transmission is present in the corresponding portion of the time-frequency region.
