Abstract: A reflective spatial light modulator includes a perovskite-type electro-optic crystal having a relative permittivity of 1,000 or higher, a light input and output unit disposed on an input surface of the electro-optic crystal and including a first electrode through which input light is transmitted, a light reflecting unit including a plurality of second electrodes disposed on a rear surface of the electro-optic crystal and reflects the input light toward the light input and output unit, a drive circuit including a plurality of drive electrodes respectively corresponding to the plurality of second electrodes and for applying an electric field to a part between the first electrode and the second electrode by inputting an electrical signal to each of the plurality of drive electrodes, and a plurality of bumps which are disposed such that the plurality of second electrodes and the plurality of drive electrodes are electrically connected to each other.

Abstract: An SLM includes a modulation unit and a driving circuit. The modulation unit includes a plurality of pixels, and modulates a phase or an intensity of incident light in each pixel according to an amplitude of a drive signal changing periodically with time. The driving circuit provides the drive signal to the modulation unit. The driving circuit performs control such that a phase of the drive signal V1(t) provided to a first pixel group in the plurality of pixels and a phase of the drive signal V2(t) provided to a second pixel group in the plurality of pixels are mutually inverted.

Abstract: A quantum simulator includes a chamber, a light beam generation apparatus, and a photodetector. The light beam generation apparatus includes a light source, an optical mask, a spatial light modulator, and a lens. The optical mask includes an inner region having a rectangular shape with a side parallel to a first direction or a second direction, and an outer region surrounding the inner region. When an xy coordinate system including an x axis parallel to the first direction and a y axis parallel to the second direction is set on an image plane, the light beam generation apparatus forms and regularly arranges focusing spots such that a minimum value of a difference between x coordinate values and a minimum value of a difference between y coordinate values of center positions of the focusing spots are longer than a non-overlapping distance.

The first electrode is disposed alone on the first surface. The second electrode is disposed alone on the second surface. At least one of the first electrode and the second electrode partially covers the first surface or the second surface. A propagation direction of the input light and an applying direction of the electric field are parallel to each other.

Abstract: An optical element includes an electro-optic crystal having an isotropic crystal which belongs to a point group m3m of a cubic system and including an input surface to which input light is input and a rear surface which is a surface on the opposite side of the input surface; a first electrode disposed on the input surface; and a second electrode disposed on the rear surface. The input surface is located along at least one axis between axes obtained by rotating two crystal axes about one remaining crystal axis used as a rotation center at a predetermined angle in three crystal axes of the electro-optic crystal. A direction of an electric field to be induced by a voltage applied to a part between the first electrode and the second electrode is set in a propagation direction of the input light.
