Abstract: This document describes methods, devices, systems, and means for performing a regrouping of a user equipment (UE) (113) between user equipment-coordination sets (UECS) by a base station (121) in which the base station (121) determines to regroup a user equipment (113) from a source UECS to a target UECS and transmits a release message to a coordinating UE (111) of the source UECS requesting the coordinating UE (111) of the source UECS to release the user equipment (113) from the source UECS (605). The base station (121) transmits a request message to a coordinating UE (114) of the target UECS requesting the coordinating UE (114) of the target UECS to add the user equipment (113) to the target UECS (610), and transmits a regrouping message to the user equipment (113) that is effective to direct the user equipment (113) is to perform a regrouping from the source UECS to the target UECS (615).

Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described for user equipment-coordination set, UECS, hybrid automatic repeat request, HARQ, that establish a HARQ timeline that is specific to the capabilities of a respective UECS. Compared to a single user equipment, UE, the HARQ timeline for a UECS depends on a number of factors, such as the joint processing capability in the UECS, latency of communication over a local wireless network between the UEs in the UECS, or the like. Based on its capabilities, the UECS can request uplink and/or downlink processing delay times or a UECS-specific HARQ timeline from a base station. The base station grants the uplink and/or downlink processing delay times or the UECS-specific HARQ timeline to the UECS in a layer-1, layer-2, or a layer-3 control message. The use of a UECS-specific HARQ timeline increases the reliability of HARQ signaling for uplink and downlink communication between the UECS and a base station.

Abstract: The subject matter described herein provides systems and techniques to automatically configure a proximal device, such as a smart watch, a tablet, or any other smart device, based on configuration information sent from the user equipment (UE) to the proximal device when the local communications connection, such as a wireless connection, between the devices is weak. If it is determined that there is a weak local communications connection between the UE and the proximal device the UE may automatically send network configuration information to the proximal device. If it is determined that there is a weak local communications connection between the UE and the proximal device the UE may automatically turn on its mobile hotspot, and automatically send the mobile hotspot configuration information to the proximal device.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) manages thermal levels of antenna modules with reference to a temperature threshold. The UE includes multiple antenna modules having a first antenna module and a second antenna module and at least one wireless transceiver coupled to the multiple antenna modules. The UE also includes a processor and memory system implementing an antenna module thermal manager. The manager is configured to obtain a first temperature indication corresponding to the first antenna module of the multiple antenna modules. The manager is also configured to perform a comparison of the first temperature indication to at least one temperature threshold. The manager is further configured to switch, based on the comparison, from using the first antenna module to using the second antenna module for wireless communication with the at least one wireless transceiver.

Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described for enabling dual connectivity with secondary cell-user equipment. In some aspects, a base station (121) serving as a primary cell forms a base station-user equipment dual connectivity (BUDC) group (410) by configuring a user equipment (UE, 111) as a secondary cell-user equipment (SC-UE, 420) to provide a secondary cell. The base station (121) or SC-UE (420) can then add other UEs (112, 113, 114) to the BUDC group (410) thereby enabling dual connectivity for the UEs through the primary cell or secondary cell provided by the SC-UE (420). In some cases, the SC-UE (420) schedules resources of an air interface (302) by which the other UEs to communicate with the SC-UE (420). By so doing, the SC-UE (420) can communicate data with the other UEs (112, 113, 114) of the BUDC group (410) without communicating through a base station (121, 122), which decreases latency of communications between the UEs (111-114) of the BUDC group (410).

Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described for enabling a base station to enable peer-to-peer communication among multiple user equipment (UE) over a mmWave link. The techniques described herein overcome challenges that the multiple UEs might otherwise face in trying to establish peer-to-peer links on their own. By relying on the base station to grant air interface resources for the UE to perform peer-to-peer communications with the UE, the UE can communicate directly with the other UE, independent of links that the UE or the other UE maintains with the base station. Furthermore, reliance on the base station may help the UE and the other UE mitigate interference from other nearby mmWave links that are separate from the peer-to-peer wave link. In addition, by relying on the base station to specify the beam sweeping pattern, beam acquisition by the UE and the other UE may be improved.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses for user-equipment coordination set (UECS) beam sweeping. In aspects, a user equipment (UE) receives an indication to coordinate beam sweeping with a UECS. The UE directs each UE in the UECS to perform a beam-training procedure by receiving a set of downlink beam transmissions, and forwards beam report information to a base station. In implementations, the UE receives an indication of one or more beam identities and one or more assigned time slots, and directs at least two UEs in the UECS to use specific beams indicated by the beam identities at specific time slots indicated by the assigned time slots, such as by transmitting a respective beam identity and a respective time slot to each UE of the at least two UEs.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses for joint-transmission over an unlicensed frequency band using a user equipment (UE)-coordination set. In aspects, a first UE in a UE-coordination set acts as a coordinating UE. The coordinating UE receives, using a local wireless network connection, uplink data from a second UE in the UE-coordination set. The coordinating UE distributes, using the local wireless network connection, the uplink data to at least a third UE in the UE-coordination set. The coordinating UE receives, from at least one UE in the UE-coordination set, respective results of a clear channel assessment of the unlicensed frequency band. The coordinating UE determines a specified time to begin joint-transmission of the uplink data based on the results and coordinates the joint-transmission by directing the at least one UE to initiate the joint-transmission of the uplink data based on the specified time.
