    Abstract: In one embodiment, a device obtains probe results generated by probing a plurality of entities in a network from a first node in the network. The device generates a location identifier for the first node that represents its location in the network, based on the probe results. The device selects a configuration associated with the first node for use by a second node in the network, based on a difference between the location identifier for the first node and a location identifier for the second node. The device causes the configuration to be deployed to the second node.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a supervisory service for a software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) uses a plurality of different decision thresholds for a machine learning-based classifier, to predict tunnel failures of a tunnel in the SD-WAN. The supervisory service captures performance data indicative of performance of the classifier when using the different decision thresholds. The supervisory service selects, based on the captured performance data, a particular decision threshold for the classifier, in an attempt to optimize the performance of the classifier. The supervisory service uses the selected decision threshold for the classifier, to predict a tunnel failure of the tunnel.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises causing, by a network controller device, a first access point (AP) device to initiate a reverse sounding operation comprising wirelessly requesting a mobile constrained network device to transmit a null data packet (NDP) at a first transmission interval, wirelessly receiving the NDP at the first transmission interval, and generating a reception report describing reception of the NDP and including beamforming information; causing, by the network controller device, a second AP device to generate a corresponding reception report describing a corresponding wireless detection of the NDP at the first transmission interval; and causing, by the network controller device, the mobile constrained network device to connect to a selected one of the first AP device or the second AP device for an identified data flow based on the respective reception reports from the first and second AP devices.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a device obtains application experience metrics for an online application. The device predicts, based on the application experience metrics, future application experience metrics for each of a set of provider endpoints for the online application. The device selects, based on the future application experience metrics, a particular provider endpoint from among the set of provider endpoints. The device provides, to a Domain Name System (DNS) resolver, resolution information for one or more of the set of provider endpoints that causes a query for one of those provider endpoints to resolve to an address of the particular provider endpoint.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a labeling service receives telemetry data for a cluster of endpoint devices in a first network environment. The endpoint devices in the cluster are clustered by a device classification service based on their telemetry data and labeled by a device type classifier of the device classification service as being of an unknown device type. The labeling service obtains a first device type label for the cluster of endpoint devices via a first user interface. The labeling service identifies one or more other network environments in which endpoint devices are located that have similar telemetry data as that of the cluster of endpoint devices. The labeling service obtains device type labels for the cluster of endpoint devices via a selected set of user interfaces from the identified one or more other network environments. The labeling service validates the first device type label for the cluster using the device type labels obtained via the selected set of user interfaces from the identified one or more other network environments.
