Abstract:
Compounds of formula I, process for making same, and cosmetic compositions and methods of skin lightening using compounds of formula I as skin lightening agents: Where each A1 and/or A2 independently is =H or COR, CO2R, CONHR, the latter three having the following formula A: where R=C1-C18 saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, hydrocarbon; and each Y1 and/or Y2 independently is H; C1-C18 saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon; or OZ, where Z=H or COR1, CO2R1, CONHR1 of formula B: and where R1=C1-C18 saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, hydrocarbon; X is Carbon, Nitrogen, Sulfur, or Oxygen; and N is in integer between 0 and 2.
Abstract:
New 4-substituted resorcinol derivatives of general formula I and/or B and process for synthesizing same, cosmetic compositions and methods of using same, particularly for skin lightening: Wherein X1 and/or X2 represents hydrogen (H), linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated C1-C12 alkyl, alkenyl, or acyl groups. Preferably, X1 and/or X2 represents hydrogen (H); linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated C1-C12 alkyl or acyl groups; R1 represents hydrogen (H), linear or branched, cyclic or acyclic, saturated or unsaturated C1-C12 alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, or cycloalkenyl group. Preferably, R1 represents hydrogen (H) or a C1 alkyl group (i.e, methyl group). More preferably, R1 represents hydrogen; n represents 0, 1. When n=0, the ring is a cyclopentyl with or without one heteroatom from O, N or S and/or with or without one double bond. When n=1, the ring is a cyclohexyl with or without one heteroatom from O, N or S and/or with or without one double bond; and m represents an integer between 1 and 6.

Abstract:
A personal care product is provided which includes a composition a quaternary ammonium salt wherein a cation of the salt is a dihydroxypropyltri(C1-C3 alkyl)ammonium monosubstituted polyol in a carrier. The cation should have a molecular weight no higher than about 450 and the salt have a Tg no higher than about 10° C. Particularly preferred are hydroxypropyltrimonium sorbitol salts. These salts operate as humectants to moisturize both in high and low relative humidity environments.
Abstract:
Fabric softening products, such as a rinse conditioner or a tumble dryer sheet, comprise (a) an organic softening compound free of quaternary nitrogen groups and having the general formula (1) wherein R1 and R2 are both hydrophobic alkyl or alkenyl groups independently comprisng 5 to 40 carbon atoms and together comprising at least 26 carbon atoms, L is a linking group having at least 1 single bond providing freedom of rotation and providing a chain length of from 4 to 10 atoms between Q and R1/R2 and Q is a hydrophilic head group; and (b) a carrier for the softening compound.
Abstract:
Cosmetic skin care methods of using and process of making carboxyalkylates of branched alcohols and/or alkoxylates thereof and process of making same. The compounds and compositions provide control of sebum secretion from sebocytes, improved oil control and improved skin feel, prevent shine and stickiness, while also providing anti-microbial activity against bacteria associated with acne, as well as providing anti-aging benefits which results in reduced appearance of wrinkles and aged skin, improved skin color, treatment of photoaged skin, improvement in skin's radiance and clarity and finish, and an overall healthy and youthful appearance of the skin.
