Abstract: Techniques related to physical uplink control channel procedures are described. Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment, an Uplink Control Information (UCI) payload size is determined based at least in part on configuration information and Downlink Control Information (DCI). Abstract: An apparatus of a Fifth Generation NodeB (gNB) to operate in a License Assisted Access (LAA) system configures a transmission initiation time interval contention window size (CWS) of N number of subframes between Category 4 Listen Before Talk (LBT) uplink (UL) transmissions by a user equipment (UE) operating in the LAA system, and a memory to store a value of N which can have a value 6 or greater or 10 or greater. An apparatus of a UE to operate in an LAA system decodes a configuration from the gNB of a transmission initiation time interval contention CWS of N number of subframes between Category 4 LBT UL transmissions in the LAA system. The CWS is increased to a next higher value when an UL grant or an autonomous UL (AUL) downlink feedback indicator (DFI) is not received before the expiration of a timer.

Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, an apparatus of a user equipment (UE) comprises circuitry to configure a scheduling request (SR) transmission based on a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), and combine the scheduling request with a buffer status report (BSR). The UE transmits the combined SR and BSR in a single subframe to a network entity, receives uplink resource scheduling from the network entity in reply to the combined SR and BSR, and transmits uplink data to the network entity according to the uplink resource scheduling.

Abstract: Described is an apparatus of an Evolved Node-B (eNB) operable to communicate with a User Equipment (UE) on a wireless network. The third circuitry may be operable to generate a GUL transmission during the one or more GUL subframes of the acquired MCOT in accordance with the one or more parameters for GUL transmission.

Abstract: Technologies described herein provide mechanisms and formats to accomplish the beam switching. In one implementation, least one frame structure for both uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) beam switching is provided. The UL beam switching and refinement may rely on 5G Physical Random Access Channel (xPRACH) or 5G Sounding Reference Signal (xSRS). The DL beam switching and refinement may be done based on a beam refinement reference signal (BRRS). In some embodiments, to accomplish the both UL and DL beam switching and refinement in one subframe, the BRRS and xPRACH or xSRS may be located in one subframe.

The UE can perform a grant less uplink transmission with the gNB based on the grant less uplink DCI components in the G-DCI received from the gNB.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may assess a radio link quality of a plurality of frames for communication, via the interface to the RF circuitry, with a radio access network (RAN) node. When the radio link quality of a frame, of the plurality of frames, is below an out-of-sync (OOS) threshold, the UE may indicate that the frame is OOS. When the radio link quality of a frame, of the plurality of frames, is above an in-sync (IS) threshold that the frame is IS. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE may process information, received from the RAN node indicating a partial subframe, of a subframe, to be used to transmit uplink control information (UCI) to the RAN node. The UE may also perform UCI mapping for using of the partial subframe to transmit UCI via a physical uplink control channel (PUSCH), and proceed by using the partial subframe to communicate the UCI to the RAN node.

Abstract: Systems and methods of using a frame structure by a NB-IoT UE are described, The UE receives an anchor segment on an anchor channel and a data segment on a data channel both in an unlicensed spectrum. If a 3N1 frame structure is used: a NPSS, NSSS and NPBCH are in a highest index anchor carrier of contiguous anchor carriers and SIB in a lowest index anchor carrier, and if a 3N2 frame structure is used a single narrowband carrier comprising the NPSS, NSSS, NPBCH and SIB. The data channel is a FHSS single carrier other than the anchor carriers if the 3N1 frame structure is used and the single narrowband carrier if the 3N2 frame structure is used. A NPDCCH or NPDSCH is received on a middle index anchor carrier or in the data segment. The NPSS overrides a TDD configuration indicated by the eNB.
