Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a technique for a location adaptive electronic calendar system. In particular, the location adaptive electronic calendar system is configured to dynamically analyze and track location information associated with users who utilize the location adaptive electronic calendar system. In turn, the location information associated with the users is compared against both proposed and scheduled meetings in order to provide various useful features and information to the user.
Abstract:
A method for facilitating reselection by a wireless communication device to a first network from a second network after termination of a voice call for which a CSFB procedure was performed is provided. The method can include performing measurement of the first network while connected to the first network and performing measurement of the second network during the voice call. The method can further include determining based at least in part on one or more of the measurements that the wireless communication device is in a mobility state. The method can additionally include deriving a predicted signal quality of the first network after termination of the voice call based at least in part on the measurement of the first network and using the predicted signal quality to determine whether to release a connection to the second network and attempt reselection to the first network.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a technique for preventing words from spanning across message blocks of a short message service (SMS) message. An SMS message is generated at a source wireless device, and an SMS manager, executing on the source wireless device, determines whether any words in the SMS message span across two or more message blocks of the SMS message. When so determined, the SMS manager attempts to shift characters of the SMS message across the message blocks to eliminate any word spanning. When the attempt to shift the characters between message blocks requires at least one additional message block to transmit the complete SMS message, the SMS manager gathers information about the destination wireless device to determine whether it is necessary to carry out the aforementioned shifting prior to sending the message blocks. The SMS manager then transmits the message blocks either unmodified or modified (i.e., shifted).

Abstract:
The invention provides a technique for managing application-generated data requests within a wireless communication device comprising a baseband component operating in discontinuous reception (DRX) mode. The technique includes the steps of receiving a data request from an application, tagging the data request as a low-priority data request or a high-priority data request in accordance with a manner in which the application is executing, forwarding the tagged data request to the baseband component, determining a next-scheduled active time based on parameters associated with the DRX mode, and causing a scheduling request to be issued at or substantially proximate to the next-scheduled active time.
Abstract:
A method for adaptive data connection retry by a wireless communication device is provided. The method can include detecting a failed attempt by the wireless communication device to establish a data connection for an application. The method can further include selecting a data retry pattern having a predefined association with the application from a set of predefined data retry patterns. The set of predefined data retry patterns can be defined based at least in part on application usage data collected by a network entity from wireless communication devices. The method can additionally include retrying data connection establishment in accordance with the selected data retry pattern.
Abstract:
A method to adapt a set of multi-point channel estimation filters for use in wireless communications including measuring a plurality of reception values is provided. Each reception value included in the plurality of reception values associated with one of the network nodes. The method includes sorting the plurality of reception values according to magnitude and determining a select reception value. The method includes selecting a particular network node from the set of network nodes based on the reception value. The reception value is within a threshold from the select reception value. The method includes adjusting the length of a multi-point channel estimation filter associated with the particular network node. The adjusting the length is based on a lookup table and on the reception value associated with the particular network node, according to some embodiments. User equipment in a wireless network adapted for the above method is also provided.
