    摘要: A cylindrical cargo container is formed of longitudinal, extruded arcuate panels joined pairwise at abutting edges to form a cylindrical tube. The container is mountable on a separate wheeled chassis to form a semi-trailer or railcar, or a chassis integral with a truck. The container may be substantially smooth on inner and outer surfaces, to provide optimal aerodynamics and freedom of motion of cargo within the container. The panels may have inner and outer skins bridged by multiple webs. Such structure may provide protection from punctures to the outer or inner skins. The container is useful to transport waste including municipal or industrial waste, and may be part of a tipper trailer. The container, trailer, truck, or railcar may be used with a compactor for compacting the waste within the container.

    摘要: Trailers are described that include a chassis, a set of wheels for rollably supporting the chassis on the ground, and a rigid container carried by the chassis. The rigid container comprises a floor, a sidewall, an access door for loading/unloading materials into the container, and a convertible rigid roof. The convertible roof is movable between a closed position which permits waste or other materials to be compressed into the trailer, and an open position which permits the trailer to be loaded with bulk goods from the top. The convertible roof includes movable rigid panels, and a locking bar for holding the panels closed and connecting the opposite sidewalls of the trailer to each other against the expansion pressure exerted by loosely compressed materials transported in the trailer. The panels may be rotating panels hinged to a wall, or may be provided as sliding panels running in tracks.

The bearings (92) have a generally U-shaped cross section and they fit on wings (72, 74) which extend outwardly and upwardly from the sides of a fixed conveyor slat (12). The movable slats (10, 10′) have a web (22, 24) and lower flange portions (26, 28) which with the side parts (14, 16) form laterally outwardly opening channels.     摘要: A wall structure of a trailer box (10) is constructed from a plurality of panels (36, 38, 40) which are welded together where their edges meet. The panels (36, 38, 40) are each extrusions and each includes thin side skins (42, 44) and thin webs (46, 48, 50). The edge regions that are connected together include thickened portions that dissipate a substantial amount of the heat provided by the welds (56, 58). A plurality of panels (36, 38, 40) are welded together to form a large wall structure (WS). This wall structure (WS) is then reconfigured by a roll-forming machine (FIGS. 8-10) to provide a box (10) having a longitudinally straight and laterally curved configuration. Laterally considered, the box (10) has a concave inner side and a convex outer side. This shape of the box provides the box with both sidewalls and a bottom. The overall construction of the trailer box is lightweight and quite strong and facilitates construction of the truck/trailer box.

    摘要: A transportation trailer having a moving floor including a plurality of reciprocating slats for loading/unloading materials into the trailer. The trailer includes a system for warming the moving floor when the materials transported in the trailer freeze on the slats in cold weather. Using the pre-existing hollow structure of the slats, a stream of hot fluid or a hot fluid pipe is run inside the slats for thawing the frozen materials for unloading the trailer. The hot fluid may be provided from a hot fluid source on board of the trailer, for thawing the frozen materials while the trailer is on its way to the unloading site, or may be provided separately at the unloading site.

    摘要: A kingpin assembly includes an aluminum frame member (16) formed of two identical extrusions. Each extrusion includes a box beam (18, 20) having a top (40) three vertical walls (42, 44, 46) and a bottom (47) including forward and rearward flanges. The forward extrusion includes a box beam (18), a rearward bottom flange (28) and a forward bottom flange (30). The rearward extrusion includes a box beam (20) a rearward bottom flange (24) and a forward bottom flange (26). Each box beam extrusion is positioned end-for-end from the other box beam extrusion. A steel kingpin (KP) is connected to an aluminum kingpin mounting block (36) which is positioned at the center of the frame member (16) between the box beams (18, 20). The box beam extrusions are welded together by a single transverse weld (W). The forward bottom flange (30) on the forward extrusion is connected to a forward panel (60) by a single longitudinal weld (W). The aluminum kingpin mounting block (36) is flanked by a pair of longitudinal channel beams (32, 34) which at their ends are connected to the box beams (18, 20).

    摘要: A cargo container has a tubular shell, an annular mounting ring mounted thereto, and a nose cone clamped to the annular mounting ring by an annular clamping collar. The mounting ring has a coupling slot and an annular flange. The nose cone has an annular flange. The clamping collar has an inwardly facing annular groove, and a constriction device. The mounting ring is mounted to the tubular shell wherein an annular edge of the tubular shell is rigidly held in the coupling slot. The nose cone and mounting ring annular flanges together form a mounting wedge. The clamping collar clamps the nose cone to the annular mounting ring wherein the mounting wedge is rigidly held in the annular groove by constriction of the clamping collar by the constriction device.
