    摘要: A sintered substrate is configured such that pores having a pore size (pore radius) of from 5 μm to 7 μm have a peak volume fraction with respect to the total pore volume of the sintered substrate, and pores having a pore radius of greater than 8.5 μm has a volume fraction of 11% or less with respect to the total pore volume of the sintered substrate. The sintered substrate has a smaller number of large-sized pores than conventional sintered substrates and a more uniform pore size distribution, and therefore shows a sufficient strength even when the porosity is increased. In addition, a cadmium negative electrode employing the sintered substrate shows excellent gas absorption capability and therefore can reduce the internal pressure of the battery during charge.

    摘要: The present invention aims to provide a sealed battery having superior performance due to favorable welding of a terminal of a seal cover and a current collector body provided below the seal cover, and a manufacturing method for the sealed battery. In the sealed battery, one of a positive-electrode plate and a negative-electrode plate is electrically connected, via a current collector body, to a terminal of a seal cover which seals an outer can. The current collector body is a single-piece plate member that has a main body and a tab extending from the main body. The tab passes through an insulating ring and bends back such that part of the insulating ring lies between a tip of the tab and the main body of the current collector body. The main body is resistance welded to the electrode assembly, and the bent back tab is resistance welded to the terminal.

The collector plate, connected to a positive electrode plate, includes a connection area connecting to an edge of the positive electrode plate, and a lead area extended from an outer edge of the connection area. Flange structures, by which the positive and negative electrode plates are connected, are included in the connection area. The flange structures include a ring-shaped flange structure, a linear flange structure, and semi-ring shaped flange structure and semi ring-shaped inner flange structure respectively formed on outer and inner edges of the connection area.
