摘要: A side screen for the cab of a work vehicle, such as a skid steer loader, comprises a panel having strips defining openings therebetween. A high percentage of the area of the screen is open for visibility. At least one reinforcing member, such as a rib, is formed in the screen, such as on a strip or on a panel section. An intermediate panel may also provide a section of relatively heightened rigidity. Such reinforcing members reduce sheet bowing, or “oil can” effect, and maintain flatness of the screen, thereby optimizing the screen for a combination of both protection and visibility.

摘要: An optical cable for use in an overhead optical transmission system in which the cable is supported along the route of the system by means of towers, masts or other upstanding supports that are also employed to support electrical power cables, includes one or more optical fibers and an electrically insulating jacket (8). The cable includes an array of elongate conductive elements (10, 12) each of which extends along a portion of the cable, adjacent conductive elements axially overlapping each other with overlapping portions circumferentially spaced apart to form a composite conductive path that extends along the cable and is interrupted when the cable is dry. Adjacent conductive elements (10, 12) are resistively coupled to each other when the surface of the cable is wet to form a continuous electrically conductive path along the cable. Such a form of cable has the advantage that the dry-band arcing under wet conditions is reduced by disrupting the geometry that allows such bands to form.

摘要: An infinite impulse response (IIR) filter is operative to filter an input signal that comprises a sequence of digital words spaced in time by an interval T. The filter includes delay circuitry that delays the input signal by successive increments of time equal to T so as to cause the production of a series of relatively delayed signals in which each signal is delayed by T with respect to the previous signal in the series. IIR processing units receive respective groups of the series of signals, the groups being offset with respect to one another by one word. The units are operative during each of plural successive clock periods equal to 2T to process respective sets of words obtained from the respective groups of the series of signals so as to produce two output words. A multiplexer combines each two output words produced during each clock period equal to 2T to constitute a filtered output signal comprising a sequence of output words spaced in time by the interval T.

摘要: An air intake for a supersonic air-breathing flight vehicle introduces or injects fluid in order to create predetermined regions of separated flow and an attendant fluid shear layer. This shear layer forms an aerodynamic boundary for the capture flow with a profile determined and optimised by appropriate injection of fluid. The aerodynamic boundary so generated replaces mechanically moveable solid surfaces used to vary the geometry of prior-art intakes. Use of an introduced or injected fluid can provide an advantage of a variable geometry, but with reduced weight and reduced mechanical complexity. In some embodiments, the injection of fluid has the effect of re-energizing any ingested boundary layer, thus obviating the conventional requirement for a bleed system to provide boundary layer control.

摘要: Shaped glasses have curved surface lenses and spectrally complementary filters disposed on the curved surface lenses configured to compensate for wavelength shifts occurring due to viewing angles and other sources. The spectrally complementary filters include guard bands to prevent crosstalk between spectrally complementary portions of a 3D image viewed through the shaped glasses. In one embodiment, the spectrally complementary filters are disposed on the curved lenses with increasing layer thickness towards edges of the lenses. The projected complementary images may also be pre-shifted to compensate for subsequent wavelength shifts occurring while viewing the images.

摘要: A method of operating an engine is provided. The engine may include a housing having a combustion chamber, a piston disposed adjacent the combustion chamber, a crankshaft connected to the piston, an intake valve associated with the combustion chamber, and an exhaust valve associated with the combustion chamber. The method may also include opening the intake valve after a power stroke of the piston begins and closing the intake valve before the exhaust stroke ends. Furthermore, the method may include causing the exhaust valve to be open for part of an intake stroke of the piston and closing the exhaust valve at least about 30 degrees of crankshaft rotation after the intake stroke begins.
