摘要： Biphenyl derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X is --CO--O-- or --O--CO--, R.sub.1 and R.sub.4 are alkyl of 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and one of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is CN and the other is H, are useful for lowering the dielectric anisotropy of liquid crystalline dielectrics.
