    Abstract: A cellular base station antenna is provided with a plurality of radiating elements arranged among a plurality of columns disposed over a reflector. In accordance with one embodiment, the first array of antenna elements and second array of antenna elements are arranged across three vertically arranged columns. At least a first array of antenna elements includes at least some of said plurality of radiating elements on each one of the columns operating together to produce a first antenna beam. At least a second array of antenna elements includes at least some other of the plurality of radiating elements on each one of the columns so as to operate together to produce a second antenna beam. As such, each of the three vertically arranged columns include at least some elements from both the first array and the second array.

    Abstract: An antenna array with control circuitry placed at a front of the antenna array and between the antenna elements. By locating the azimuth beamforming network control circuitry on the front of the array and between antenna elements, the antenna elements and the other components can be coupled to the control circuitry without using cables. This leads to a reduction in the number of cable connections and to a reduction in size and weight of the resulting antenna array. The ABFN control circuitry is also used to control the beams formed from each row and not from each column as is usually done.

    Abstract: An antenna producing a quasi-omni radiation pattern. The antenna includes at least three main panels, each having a plurality of radiating elements thereon, disposed in one or more columns of elements. The main panels are disposed in a substantially circular arrangement to generate the quasi-omni radiation pattern. At least one null filling panel is disposed between every two consecutive main panels of the at least three main panels, directed towards a null in the quasi-omni radiation pattern between the two consecutive main panels. The null filling panel has at least a single column of elements that radiate a null filling signal that is substantially the same signal as a signal from elements from the two adjacent main panels.

    Abstract: An omni-directional small cell base station antenna includes at least one array of a first frequency on a lower portion of the antenna, at least one second array of a second frequency on an upper portion of the antenna, and at least one third array of a third frequency on the upper portion of the antenna. The second frequency is higher than the first frequency, and the third frequency is higher than the second frequency. The at least one second array at a second frequency includes a plurality of reflector plates with antenna elements of the second frequency thereon, and the at least one third array at a third frequency includes a plurality of reflector plates with antenna elements of the third frequency thereon. The reflector plates of the at least one second array are interspersed between the reflector plates of the at least one third array such that the reflector plates of the second and third arrays alternate around the circumference of the upper portion of the antenna.

    Abstract: A multi-beam antenna system, apparatus and method for dynamic carrier aggregation to multi-beam antenna mapping in radio access networks, including small-cell deployments, is disclosed. Apparatus comprises a compact base transceiver unit with integrated multi-beam antenna comprising antenna groups configurable for operation in a plurality of modes, with one or more selected antenna groups enabled, for different use-case scenarios. The base transceiver unit comprises a daisy-chained radio-frequency (RF) system wherein one baseband processor feeds multiple RF transceivers; each RF transceiver front end comprises a software configurable isolation module through which each RF front end is interlinked to previous and next RF front ends to enable dynamic routing of TX/RX data streams through the daisy chain, e.g. routing a transmission data stream from any RF transceiver to any one of the antenna groups or multiple antenna groups, routing a received data stream from one or multiple antenna groups to any RF transceiver, and for contiguous or non-contiguous carrier aggregation.
