Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a user equipment (UE) may directly send small data to a disaggregated base station without performing a random access procedure. The CU-CP may provide a list of routing identifiers and corresponding data resource bearers (DRBs) to a distributed unit (DU) and the DU may transmit a connection release message to the UE. The connection release message may include the list of routing identifiers and the list of DRB identifiers. The connection release message may also include a downlink monitoring timer. The UE may identify data for an uplink transmission and a DRB associated with that data. The UE may transmit a packet with the data and the routing identifiers to a DU, which may derive downlink address information from the routing identifiers and forward the data to a CU-UP of the aggregated base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may establish a wireless connection between the UE and a base station. The UE may identify, in an inactive state for the UE for the wireless connection, data to transmit to the base station. The UE may transmit, in the inactive state, a medium access control protocol data unit, the medium access control protocol data unit comprising both a data packet for the identified data and a request to resume an active state for the wireless connection.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a source master eNodeB (MeNB) may transmit, to a target Next Generation radio access network (NG-RAN) node, a handover required message to initiate an inter-system handover from an evolved-Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) New Radio (NR) dual connectivity (EN-DC) system associated with the source MeNB to an NR standalone (SA) system associated with the target NG-RAN node. The source MeNB may have an indirect path to the target NG-RAN node and a source secondary gNodeB (SgNB) may have a direct path to the target NG-RAN node. The source MeNB may transmit, to the target NG-RAN node and based at least in part on the handover required message, forwarded data via the indirect path between the source MeNB and the target NG-RAN node through a core network. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, an apparatus of a central or management entity of an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network may receive a report indicating one or more of a failure associated with a communication link associated with an IAB node included in the IAB network or a quality of service (QoS) associated with the communication link. The apparatus may modify a topography of the IAB network or routing within the IAB network when the report indicates the failure associated with the communication link. The apparatus may verify a QoS associated with the IAB network when the report indicates the QoS associated with the communication link. Numerous other aspects are described.
