Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) offloading through radio access network rules. In one embodiment of a method of wireless communication, a mobile device may determine that Radio Access Network (RAN) assistance information is unavailable, the RAN assistance information including a first set of thresholds for switching a Packet Data Network (PDN) connection of the mobile device from a WLAN to a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN). The mobile device may further access a second set of thresholds based at least in part on the determining, and the mobile device may determine to switch the PDN connection from the WLAN to the WWAN based at least in part on the second set of thresholds.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates in some aspects to the establishment, discovery, and creation of virtual wireless communication networks. A device can create a virtual wireless communication network with a serving mobile network operator (MNO), e.g., via a service provider, and provide information regarding connectivity to the virtual wireless communication network. Provided information can include, without limitation, restricted access to content and uploaded specific content. The disclosure also relates in some aspects to enabling a network to configure access and policing entities to support a virtual wireless communication network.
Abstract:
Methods performed by a user equipment (UE) for wireless communication, the method comprising receiving an authentication load indicator from an access point (AP), and determining whether to attempt authentication with a network entity based at least in part on the authentication load indicator.
Abstract:
A method, operational at a radio access network (RAN) node, is provided for establishing a secure interface with a service network node. A service registration request is received from a client device. A service network associated with the connectivity network is determined or ascertained, wherein the service network node operates within the service network. The service registration request is forwarded to a connectivity network node within the connectivity network. A secure connection is then established with a service network node via the connectivity network node. Communications between the radio access network node and the client device may then be secured based on the key.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for managing user equipment (UE) subscription establishment with networks outside of a home network. A UE may determine whether it is authorized to operate in an unsubscribed state and/or to initiate a local subscription establishment procedure with a non-home network. A home network operator may authorize the UE to operate in an unsubscribed state and/or to initiate a local subscription establishment procedure at non-home networks. When authorized to do so, the UE may initiate a subscription establishment procedure.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for determining available uplink bandwidth as an achievable throughput for a link. An available link capacity of a link with a cell for a user equipment is estimated based on a communication quality measured in the cell. An available fraction of cell resources for the user equipment over the link is also estimated based at least in part on received assistance information. An available bandwidth of the cell is then estimated as an achievable throughput for the user equipment over the link as a function of the estimated available link capacity and the estimated available fraction of cell resources. Moreover, a network procedure can be performed based at least in part on comparing the achievable throughput to one or more thresholds.
Abstract:
A method, operational at a network device, for conveying congestion information across different strata of a multi-strata network is provided. An indication is obtained that a congestion level for at least one of a radio access network node and a core network node of a network has changed. Consequently, a one or more service parameters for a plurality of services, operating at a service stratum, are updated or adjusted on a per service basis based on the congestion level indication. The one or more service parameters are provided or sent to, at least one of, a node operating at a service stratum or a user device that obtains services over the network.
Abstract:
A method, operational at a first node operating at a service stratum may include sending a request to establish a service hosted at a connectivity stratum. A response may include a first list of service parameters offered by a second node. The first node may send a second list of service parameters, selected from the first list, to the second node. The service may be established based on the second list. At a second node operating at a connectivity stratum, a method may include obtaining a request from a first node to establish a service hosted at the connectivity stratum. The second node may respond with a first list of service parameters offered by the second node to establish the service. A second list of service parameters, selected from the first list, may be obtained from the first node. The service may be established based on the second list.
Abstract:
Features pertain to determining, at a client device, to send a query to a network access node. The query may be associated with a plurality of serving networks, each serving network identified with a serving network identifier. A first serving network identifier may be selected to associate with the query. The query may be sent to the network access node. The query may include the first serving network identifier, and in some aspects, a second serving network identifier. Additional features pertain to receiving, at a network node, a query including a first serving network identifier. The network node may be associated with a plurality of serving networks. A first server to which to forward the query may be determined at the network node. The first serving network identifier identifies the first server. The query may be sent to the first server.
Abstract:
Aspects described herein relate to detecting wireless network services. A network identifier can be determined in a broadcast message received from a network entity, and a connection with a network related to the network entity can be established based at least in part on the network identifier. Using the connection, the network entity can be queried for information related to services available at the network, where the information may indicate one or more subscription providers related to the services.
