Abstract: Control for multi-panel user equipment (MPUE) activation may be performed by both the MPUE and a base station. The MPUE may have at least a first panel and a second panel. The MPUE may send to the base station, a request to change an activation status of at least one panel of the MPUE. The base station may transmit a response indicating whether the request has been approved. The MPUE may change the activation status of the panel according to the response. Conversely, the MPUE may receive a command from the base station to change an activation status of at least one panel of the MPUE. The MPUE may determine whether to follow the command or override the command. The MPUE may transmit a response indicating whether the MPUEUE has followed the command or overridden the command.

Abstract: A UE detects a beam failure on a first CC. The UE determines whether to transmit a BFRQ to a base station on the first CC or a second CC. The UE determines whether to include a NBI report in the BFRQ. The UE transmits the BFRQ to the base station on the first CC or the second CC. The base station receives a BFRQ from a UE on a first CC or a second CC. The base station determines a new beam for the first CC, where the determination of the new beam is based on a RACH procedure when the BFRQ is received on the first CC or a NBI report in the BFRQ when the BFRQ is received on the second CC. The base station initiates a BFR procedure with the UE for the first CC based on the BFRQ and the new beam determination.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for precoding for multi-panel uplink transmission. For codebook-based uplink transmission, a user equipment (UE) can determine one or more preferred or selected precoders for uplink transmission. The precoders can be from an expanded UE codebook that maps a first number of transmit layers at the UE to a second number of antenna ports at the UE, the layers and/or antenna ports associated with multiple uplink transmit panels at the UE. The UE sends an indication to a base station (BS) of the determined precoders and/or sends an uplink transmission using the determined precoders. For non-codebook based uplink transmission the UE receives first and second reference signals (RSs), from first and second ports of a BS, with first and second UE antenna panels. The UE computes precoders to use for uplink transmission based on the RSs.

The user equipment may transmit the uplink data transmission on the subset of the uplink beams based at least in part on receiving the information that identifies the subset of the uplink beams. Abstract: In multi-beam communication, the UE may assist in the scheduling of beams utilized during the multi-beam communication by improving the manner in which the quality of the beam is reported to the network. The apparatus may transmit an uplink transmission comprising a CSI report in response to detecting the triggering event. The apparatus may receive an uplink request from a UE for providing CSI for at least one beam. The apparatus may transmit an indication scheduling a CSI report in response to the uplink request. The apparatus may receive an uplink transmission from the UE comprising the CSI report for the at least one beam.
