Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for early measurement associated with configuring with multiple secondary nodes (SNs). In one aspect, the configuration of multiple SNs may be improved by allowing a master node (MN) to determine a multi-SN configuration based at least in part on measurements of actual channel conditions as seen by the UE. Enabling the MN to receive the measurement information early during a process associated with establishing a connection between the UE and the MN may thereby improve efficiency and reduce latency associated with the configuration of multiple SNs.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive radio resource control (RRC) signaling indicating a duration for a timer to be used during a random access channel (RACH) procedure in which the UE transmits mobile-originated uplink data. While in an inactive mode, the UE may transmit the mobile-originated uplink data in a first message of the RACH procedure and the UE may start the timer based at least in part on transmitting the uplink data. The UE may monitor, while in the inactive mode and for the duration of the timer indicated in the RRC signaling, to detect a second message of the RACH procedure including mobile-terminated downlink data in response to the mobile-originated uplink data. A user equipment (UE) may identify that the UE is operating in a dual-connectivity configuration with a master node (MN) and a secondary node (SN). The UE may receive at least one request that the UE report MDT measurements. The UE may perform a first portion of measurements associated with the first base station and perform a second portion of measurements associated with the second base station. The UE may perform the measurements while the UE is operating in the dual-connectivity configuration. The UE may transmit one or more reports including information indicative of the first portion of measurements, information indicative of the second portion of measurements, or both.

The method may include receiving from a master cell group of a dual connectivity environment a first message indicating that a secondary cell group of the dual connectivity environment is suspended, maintaining a lower layer configuration for the secondary cell group and modifying a measurement report configuration for the secondary cell group based on the first message and while the secondary cell group is suspended, receiving from the master cell group a second message indicating that the secondary cell group is no longer suspended, and reconnecting to the secondary cell group using the lower layer configuration for the secondary cell group based on the second message.
