Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices, systems, and computer programs encoded on storage media, for clear channel assessment (CCA) for a wide bandwidth channel. For example, a wide bandwidth channel may have a bandwidth that is greater than 160 MHz bandwidth. An example wide bandwidth channel has a 320 MHz bandwidth. The CCA techniques include detection thresholds that may be used for wide bandwidth channels. In some implementations, a CCA process may be extended to include assessments of extended portions of a wide bandwidth channel (such as a tertiary 80 MHz bandwidth channel and a quaternary 80 MHz bandwidth channel). In some implementations, a CCA process may be extended to use an assessment of a secondary channel of the wide bandwidth channel that has a 160 MHz bandwidth.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for wireless communication with partial channel puncturing. Using partial channel puncturing, a wireless local area network (WLAN) device may modulate data on a first portion of a wireless channel while refraining from modulating data on a second portion of the wireless channel. The partial channel puncturing can be used with an exclusion bandwidth zone defined for the WLAN. The exclusion bandwidth zone prevents transmissions on portions of channels so that the WLAN transmissions do not interfere with an incumbent system transmission in the exclusion bandwidth zone.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for link adaptation in a wireless local area network (WLAN). A link adaptation test packet from a first WLAN device to a second WLAN may include a plurality of link adaptation test portions that are generated using a corresponding plurality of transmission rate options. For example, the plurality of link adaptation test portions may be modulated using different modulation and coding scheme (MCS) options. Thus, a single test packet may be used to evaluate different transmission rate options. The second WLAN device may provide feedback information regarding the link adaptation test portions. The feedback information may be used to determine a transmission rate for a subsequent transmission from the first WLAN device to the second WLAN device based on wireless channel conditions.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for configuring tones for a distributed resource unit (RU) across a channel bandwidth to improve frequency diversity and available transmit power. A distributed RU may include a set of tones that may be allocated across a bandwidth that is greater than a bandwidth of the aggregate quantity of tones. The set of tones may include a set of data tones grouped into contiguous groups of one or more data tones and a set of non-contiguous pilot tones. The data tones may be mapped to useful tones over a center portion of a half-bandwidth of the channel. The pilot tones may be mapped near edge tones at edges of the channel bandwidth or near direct current tones at a center of the channel bandwidth. A system bandwidth may include one or more channel bandwidths associated with distributed RUs.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for communicating over a wireless communication network are disclosed herein. One example apparatus includes a memory that stores instructions. The apparatus further includes a processor coupled with the memory. The processor and the memory are configured to determine a total bandwidth for a transmission of a message, the total bandwidth including a plurality of tones. The processor is further configured to divide the plurality of tones in the total bandwidth into one or more 26-, 52-, 106-, 242-, or 996-tone blocks. The processor is further configured to determine an indication. The indication assigns one or more of the one or more tone blocks to a first wireless communication device. The apparatus further includes a transmitter configured to transmit the indication to at least the first wireless communication device or a second device.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for encoding data for wireless communication to achieve a desired amplitude distribution. Some implementations more specifically relate to performing an encoding operation to shape the amplitudes of the resultant symbols such that the amplitudes have a non-uniform distribution. In some implementations of the non-uniform distribution, the probabilities associated with the respective amplitudes generally increase with decreasing amplitude. Some implementations enable the tracking of MPDU boundaries to facilitate successful decoding by a receiving device. Additionally or alternatively, some implementations enable the determination of a packet length after performing the amplitude shaping, which enables a transmitting device to determine the number of padding bits to add to the payload and to signal the packet length to a receiving device so that the receiving device may determine the duration of the packet.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for wireless communication, and particularly, methods, devices and systems for including signaling regarding enhanced features of new wireless communication protocols. The signaling may be included in various portions of a physical layer preamble of a wireless transmission. In some implementations, the physical layer preamble may be used to indicate puncturing of subbands or content channels that may carry further signaling in accordance with preamble signaling designs of this disclosure. The physical layer preamble signaling be parallelized for different subchannels of a wireless channel that consists of multiple subchannels. Some implementations of the physical layer preambles may be used to multiplex different types of wireless local area network communications into different subsets of the plurality of subchannels of the wireless channel.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for communicating over a wireless communication network. In one aspect, an apparatus can include a memory that stores instructions, a processor, and a segment parser. The memory can be configured to store instructions. The processing system is configured to execute the instructions to generate a message according to a tone plan for transmission to one or more destination devices within one of a 240 or 320 MHz total channel bandwidth. The processing system is further configured to provide the message for transmission over the 240 or 320 MHz total channel bandwidth, where the message is encoded for transmission by at least one of a binary convolutional coded (BCC) interleaver or a low density parity check (LDDC) tone mapper. The segment parser is configured to segment the total channel bandwidth into a plurality of segments of equal or unequal sub-band bandwidths or number of data tones.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for data parsing for resource unit (RU) aggregation. A wireless communication device (such as an access point (AP) or a station (STA)) may allocate a set of RUs for a receiving device in a basic service set (BSS). The set of RUs may be associated with multiple bandwidth segments of a bandwidth allocation and may be non-contiguous or contiguous. The wireless communication device may determine a data parsing and encoding scheme for a set of information bits. The data parsing may be implemented at a medium access control (MAC) layer or physical (PHY) layer and the encoding may correspond to a joint encoding or a separate encoding for each RU of the allocation. The wireless communication device may then distribute the coded bits to the set of RUs for transmission.
