Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatuses that can provide sidelink grant information to out-of-coverage (OoC) sidelink devices. When one or more sidelink devices are out of a coverage area of a base station, an in-coverage device receiving sidelink grant information from the base station can retransmit, relay, or rebroadcast sidelink grant information to the OoC sidelink devices to enable sidelink communication with the OoC device or facilitate sidelink communication between OoC devices.

Abstract: Device detection in networks with mixed mobility devices is discussed. Devices in the network first determine a discovery mode from a plurality of discovery modes, wherein the determining is based on a mobility state of the wireless device. The device identifies a set of resources associated with the determined discovery mode, wherein each of the plurality of discovery modes is provisioned with separate resources. A discovery signal is transmitted using the identified set of resources according to the discovery mode. Thus, devices with higher mobility will generally send discovery signals more often than devices that are static or semi-static.

Abstract: An apparatus may receive, from a scheduling entity, sidelink grant information in a downlink control channel. After receiving the grant information in the downlink control channel, the apparatus may transmit a request-to-send (RTS) signal comprising an indication of a requested duration of time to reserve a sidelink channel for sidelink data. If the sidelink channel is available for the requested duration of time, the apparatus may receive a clear-to-send (CTS) signal configured to indicate an availability of the sidelink channel for the requested duration of time. Subsequently, the apparatus may communicate, with another apparatus different from the scheduling entity, the sidelink data using the sidelink channel during the requested duration of time. Afterwards, the apparatus may communicate acknowledgment information corresponding to the communication of the sidelink signal with the other apparatus. Various additional and alternative aspects are described herein.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for a clear channel assessment (CCA) procedure in a long term evolution (LTE) controlled Wi-Fi (LTE-CW) system. A user equipment (UE) may receive a resource grant that identifies a plurality of channels of a shared frequency spectrum subband available for uplink communications. The UE may identify a primary channel associated with a neighboring Wi-Fi basic subscriber set (BSS) and determine whether the primary channel is within the plurality of channels. The UE may select a channel of the plurality of channels based on the determining. The UE may perform a signal detect CCA procedure on the selected channel.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A first device in a synchronous network performs a first clear channel assessment (CCA) procedure on a channel; identifies the channel as being available based at least in part on the first CCA procedure; and transmits a packet on the channel immediately following the completion of the first CCA procedure. A second device performs a CCA procedure on the channel using the same count-down duration if the first and second devices are associated with the same first operator. If the first and second devices are associated with different operators, the second device performs a second CCA procedure on the channel having a different count-down duration than the count-down duration of the first CCA procedure.

A wireless node, e.g., a base station, may determine that a channel is available based on completing a clear channel assessment (CCA) procedure. The wireless node may be associated with a first operator. The wireless node may transmit a first message on the channel in a subframe based on the CCA procedure. The first message may include a header portion that precedes a data portion. The first message may be time aligned with a second message transmitted from a second wireless node that is associated with the first operator.
