Abstract: In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) may obtain an indication of one or more reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) for use during a self-localization positioning session. The UE may receive a reference signal (RS) configuration for transmitting one or more RS for the self-localization positioning session. The UE may receive a reflection schedule for at least one RIS of the one or more RIS, wherein the reflection schedule indicates one or more reflection phases of the at least one RIS for reflecting the one or more RS transmitted by the UE and corresponding times at which each reflection phase of the one or more reflection phases is activated at the at least one RIS.

Abstract: Aspects presented herein may enable an LMF to configure AI/ML-based techniques/measurements for a set of base stations/TRPs to improve the performance of UL-based positioning. The network entity receives the UL-based positioning measurement for the set of SRSs from the at least one network node. The network entity estimates a position of the UE based on the UL-based positioning measurement for the set of SRSs.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide apparatus, methods, processing systems, and computer readable mediums for determining a beamformer to apply to groups of two or more elements of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). The beamformer is applied to the groups of elements of the RIS to facilitate communications at the operating frequency by re-radiating radio signals via the elements of the RIS. For example, by grouping RIS elements in different manners and applying a beamformer (e.g., precoding weights) to the group as if the group were a single RIS element, the RIS can be reconfigured to behave differently to suit various operating frequencies of the radio signals.
