    Abstract: Some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide synchronization signal numerology, coverage extension/repetition schemes, and synchronization signal burst set periodicities for 5G IoT user equipment (UEs). For example, some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide a sequence of slots and/or particular symbols within a slot for transmission of a synchronization signal and/or a broadcast channel. Furthermore, some techniques and apparatuses described herein define minimum bandwidths of IoT UEs in relation to non-IoT UEs, and define synchronization signal burst set periodicities that may be different for IoT UEs than for non-IoT UEs.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A method at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving signaling that indicates a carrier aggregation (CA) configuration (having carriers configured for UL and downlink (DL) data transmissions) and an auxiliary uplink (UL) configuration (having carriers configured for UL reference signal transmissions). The method also includes receiving a resource assignment on a DL carrier of the CA configuration, and transmitting an aperiodic sounding reference signal (A-SRS) using the one or more carriers of the auxiliary UL configuration based at least in part on the received resource assignment. Another method is performed by a UE having a CA configuration and an A-SRS configuration, including receiving a resource assignment on a DL carrier in the CA configuration, detecting a trigger for transmitting an A-SRS, determining UL resources of the A-SRS configuration for transmitting the A-SRS, and transmitting the A-SRS on the determined UL resources.

    Abstract: Techniques for wireless communication are described. A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes identifying a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) to transmit in an uplink pilot time slot (UpPTS) of a subframe, determining whether to transmit uplink control information (UCI) on the PUSCH in the UpPTS, and transmitting the PUSCH in the UpPTS based at least in part on the determining. A method for wireless communication at a network access device includes determining whether to schedule a transmission of UCI on a PUSCH in a UpPTS of a subframe, scheduling the PUSCH in the UpPTS based at least in part on the determining, and transmitting, to a UE, scheduling information for the PUSCH in the UpPTS.

    Abstract: The present disclosure may support dedicated scheduling request resources in a NPUSCH format resource structure, a NPRACH, and/or an ACK/NACK transmission associated with a downlink transmission received at the UE. In addition, the present disclosure may provide various techniques to mitigate collisions between scheduling requests transmitted by a UE, uplink transmissions sent by different UEs, and/or downlink transmissions sent by a base station. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may receive one or more downlink transmissions from a base station. The apparatus may determine to transmit an uplink transmission to the base station. The apparatus transmit, to the base station, a scheduling request for the uplink transmission with an ACK/NACK associated with the one or more downlink transmissions using a narrowband NPUSCH format resource structure.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may establish a configuration for communication utilizing a first transmission time interval (TTI) length and a second TTI length that is shorter than the first TTI length. The first TTI length may be associated with a first traffic type (e.g., a first latency or reliability characteristic) and the second TTI length may be associated with a second traffic type (e.g., a second latency or reliability characteristic). The UE may identify a trigger for a channel state information (CSI) report associated with the second TTI length and identify a reference resource for the CSI report (e.g., having the second TTI length). The UE may generate the CSI report based on the reference resource, and may transmit the CSI report during a reporting TTI and in response on the identified trigger.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications, and more specifically to sounding reference signal (SRS) transmissions in enhanced machine type communication (MTC). An example method generally includes determining one or more narrowband regions partitioned from wider system bandwidth for communicating with a base station, determining resources, within the one or more narrowband regions of a first subframe, for transmission of sounding reference signals (SRS) by the UE, deciding whether or not to transmit SRS on the determined resources of the first subframe, and transmitting or not transmitting the SRS on the determined resources of the first subframe based on the decision.
