Abstract: The presently claimed disclosure is directed to methods that may be implemented at a computer. Methods and systems consistent with the present disclosure may include extending protocols associated with authenticating client (i.e. supplicant) devices and with authorizing those supplicant devices to access a wireless network. These methods may include sending data relating to the failure of an authentication and/or an authorization process to a supplicant device attempting to access a wireless network. Methods discussed within may include securely sending failure codes or reasons to a supplicant device that identify why an authentication or authorization process failed. These methods may include sending messages between a supplicant device, an authenticator device, and an authentication and authorization server. After a first failure, the supplicant device may be able to access the wireless network after a reason or code of that failure has been reported to the supplicant device.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises first causing, by a controller device, wireless access points (APs) to allocate first non-interfering wireless channels for a prescribed reliable data service for wireless client devices in a WLAN; second causing the wireless APs to allocate a second shared channel having a bandwidth that is greater than the corresponding bandwidth of any of the first non-interfering wireless channels; allocating for each wireless client device a corresponding location service interval on the second shared channel for transmission of at least a corresponding identifiable wireless data unit for locating the corresponding wireless client device between two or more of the wireless APs; and determining a location of at least one of the wireless client devices based on reception of at least the corresponding wireless data unit between the one wireless client device and the two or more wireless APs during the corresponding location service interval.

Abstract: Embodiments identify a station that rotates an over the air station address. As address rotation was not originally designed into wireless networks, the rotation can introduce communication challenges for the station. The embodiments derive that traffic referencing two different over the air station addresses are associated with a single common station. This is accomplished by determining a similarity between properties of two sets of traffic. A first set of traffic references the first over the air station address and a second set of traffic references the second over the air station address. If the properties common across the two sets of traffic indicate sufficient similarity, the embodiments determine that both sets of traffic are associated with a single device. Network configuration of the device is then adjusted based on the determination.
