Abstract: Layer 2 handling during a cell change procedure includes decoding an RRC reconfiguration message received from a first cell. The RRC reconfiguration message includes a Layer 1 (L1) configuration corresponding to a second cell. The first cell and the second cell share an SDAP entity, a PDCP entity, an RLC entity, and a MAC entity. The first cell and the second cell have a separate L1 entity. In response to decoding the RRC reconfiguration message, the L1 configuration corresponding to the second cell is stored. A cell change message received from the first cell is decoded. The cell change message indicates that a cell change from the first cell to the second cell is to be performed. The stored L1 configuration corresponding to the second cell is applied for data transmission and reception associated with the second cell. A cell change to the second cell is initiated.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) is configured to communicate with a further UE via a sidelink (SL). The UE encodes traffic for transmission to the further UE, wherein the traffic comprises a payload and a medium access control (MAC) subheader, wherein the MAC subheader indicates whether the payload corresponds to non-routed traffic between the UE and the further UE or routed traffic between either one of the UE or the further UE and a base station, wherein an other one of the UE or the further UE functions as a relay for the routed traffic and transmits the traffic.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments for authentication and authorization in a 5G network between an edge enabler client (EEC) of a UE and an edge configuration server (ECS). Abstract: The functions of user equipment (UE), radio access network (RAN) devices, and core network (CN) devices in circumstances where a UE is expected to experience discontinuous coverage are described herein. A UE may send a CN a non-access stratum (NAS) message including a release request indicating that a UE is leaving coverage and assistance information. The CN may interrupt paging of the UE and resume the paging according to the assistance information. A UE may enter a low power usage mode upon leaving coverage, and may use one or more timers to determine when to check for coverage and send a mobility update message corresponding to the low power usage mode. A base station may receive, from a UE, a radio resource control (RRC) message comprising a release request and assistance information, send an RRC release message to the UE in response, and forward the assistance information to the CN.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for supporting switching between point to point and point to multipoint delivery with service continuity for broadcast and multicast services in a wireless communication system. A cellular base station and a wireless device may establish a wireless link. The cellular base station may provide information configuring an over the air delivery type with which to receive a broadcast or multicast service, which may be received by the wireless device. The cellular base station may transmit the service using the configured delivery type, and the wireless device may correspondingly receive the service. The cellular base station may provide information configuring the wireless device to switch to a different over the air delivery type, with service continuity. The cellular base station may then transmit the service using that delivery type, and the wireless device may correspondingly receive the service.

Abstract: A wireless user equipment (UE) device may transmit a random access preamble to a base station, using a physical resource on an uplink signal. After failing to receive an initial transmission of a response message from the base station (BS), the UE device may monitor for one or more retransmissions of the response message. Each of the retransmission may include a corresponding transmission number. As an alternative, each of the retransmissions may be at least partially scrambled using a corresponding Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI). As another alternative, a window for monitoring and RNTI calculation may be extended to include the one or more retransmissions. The successive retransmissions may include the same set of UE-specific payloads, or, a decreasing set of payloads over time as UE devices acknowledge successful receipt of their respective payloads.
