    Abstract: An elevator for an endoscope comprises a first end secured to the endoscope, a second end movable by an actuator, a flexible portion positioned between the first and second ends that is rotatable when the second end is moved by the actuator, and a guide portion extending between the flexible portion and the second end to receive an endotherapy instrument extending from the endoscope, the guide portion comprising a chute to guide the endotherapy instrument leaving the endoscope. A method of forming an elevator comprises forming from a planar sheet of material an elongate body comprising a length between first and second ends, a width, and a thickness, forming a guide body in the elongate body, bending the elongate body such that first and second lengths of the elongate body oppose each other to form an interior space, and bending the guide body to extend into the interior space.

    Abstract: A modular endoscopy system comprises a first modular section comprising control and navigation functionality, and a patient-insertable second modular section user-detachably connectable to the first modular section via an attachment mechanism, wherein the first modular section is positionable at a proximal end section of the second modular section and is configured to steer and bend a portion of the second modular section. A method of using a modular endoscopy system comprises attaching a first modular section of to a second modular section of the modular endoscopy system, positioning a portion of the modular endoscopy system within a patient, steering a portion of the second modular section to an anatomy location of the patient via the first modular section, removing the modular endoscopy system from the patient, and detaching the second modular section from the first modular section after removal of the modular endoscopy system from the patient.

In an illustrative embodiment, an apparatus includes an elongated implement movable along an axis and a rotatable actuator operably coupled with a proximal end of the implement to motivate the implement to move along the axis in response to rotation of the rotatable actuator. A guide is operably coupled with rotatable actuator, where the guide defines a generally helical channel around the axis to direct movement of a rotatable actuator, and wherein a pitch of the helical channel is varied to reduce a distance of travel of the actuator along the axis per unit of rotation of the actuator.

    Abstract: A device having a hub assembly and a lever coupled with the hub assembly is provided. The device includes a sheath coupled with the lever and extending from the hub assembly. The sheath has a surgical elevator with a surgical elevator edge along with a hypotube having an access hole. The device has a shaver blade assembly with an outer shaft having an outer blade and an inner blade within the outer blade. The outer shaft has a stop and an access hole near the outer and inner blades. The sheath partially surrounds the outer shaft and the lever moves between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the surgical elevator edge abuts the outer shaft stop and the outer shaft access hole aligns with the hypotube access hole. In the second position, the surgical elevator edge is spaced apart from the outer shaft stop.

In an illustrative embodiment, an apparatus includes a tip body defining an annular chamber.     Abstract: A method of treating a calculi mass can include using an ultrasonic probe to produce acoustic energy and fragment the mass. The method can include varying the frequency at which fragmentation occurs to treat the mass with a resonant frequency. The ultrasonic probe can have a distal tip for contact with the mass, where the tip has a morphology for concentrating stress on the mass. The ultrasonic probe can have two or more ultrasonic horns to allow for higher voltage and power levels.

    Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include apparatuses, systems, and methods for guiding a needle to facilitate suturing, such as in surgical anastomosis. In an illustrative embodiment, an apparatus includes at least one guide member configured to extend from a suturing mechanism that is configured to revolve a helically-shaped needle around an axis while the needle is advanced around an object to be sutured. A guide track is configured to be positioned around the object and to guide the suturing mechanism in an articulated path around the object. The guide track defines at least one guide channel configured to receive the guide member, where the at least one guide channel is configured to direct movement of the guide member to cause the suturing mechanism to pivot to realign the axis to be tangential to the curved guide track.
