    Abstract: An exemplary unified framework that is disclose for identifying which communication beams are to be uplink and/or downlink communication beams. This exemplary unified framework can utilize one or more universal Transmission Configuration Indication (TCI) states to identify the one or more communication beams that are to be utilized for uplink and/or downlink communication. The one or more universal TCI states can be used identify the one or more communication beams. And the one or more universal TCI states can include applicability information to identify which control channels, such as the PDCCH and the PUCCH to provide some examples, data channels, such as the PDSCH and/or the PUSCH to provide some examples, and/or signals, such as the DMRS, the PTRS, the SRS, and/or the CSI-RS to provide some examples, are to utilize the communication beams identified by the one or more universal TCI states.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for improving the robustness of a DCI triggered beam update in 5G NR are disclosed herein. A g Node B (gNB) may associate a reference signal to a beam pattern (or beam configuration) and prepare Downlink Control Information (DCI) of a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) that includes aperiodic Channel-State Information Reference Signal (AP CSI-RS) information indicating the beam pattern. A user equipment (UE) may decode the DCI, extract the AP CSI-RS information, update the beam pattern of a reference signal based on the AP CSI-RS information, and generate an uplink (UL) feedback message indicating that the PDCCH was successfully decoded by the UE. The gNB may then decode the uplink (UL) feedback message and, in response, update a receive (RX) beam of the gNB to correspond to the beam pattern associated to the reference signal.

    Abstract: Some embodiments of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for uplink panel selection with power saving. In some embodiments, user equipment (UE) may experience a positional change. In response, the UE may deactivate a first communication panel to save power and activate a second communication panel. The UE may then transmit a status message to a communication node indicating the activation and/or deactivation. The node may then register this activation and/or deactivation. In some embodiments, the node may monitor uplink slots from the first and second communication panel to identify the activation and deactivation. For example, if the node detects an absence of an uplink signal within a slot threshold, the node may identify the panel as being deactivated. The node may establishing communications with another panel based on a detected signal and/or the status message.

    Abstract: Approaches are described for receiving downlink signals simultaneously where analog beamforming is being used to increase the link budget between the base station and user equipment (UE). Alternatives within these approaches include the UE determining the synchronization signal block (SSB) to receive when there are multiple SSBs from different cells in a slot, and determining whether there are other signals in the same symbols with the selected SSB based on the type of signal and the SSB's functionality. In the case where there are another downlink signals channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) or physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) from another cell, the UE selects the corresponding quasi co-location (QCL) assumption to receive the signals. Optionally, the UE can report whether it can support one or two QCL-TypeD at a time and whether it supports SSBs in different cells multiplexed in overlapped symbols.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) reliability enhancement. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a processor of a UE receives, from a BS associated with a first TRP and a second TRP, a first message for configuring a PUCCH resource to be used by the UE to perform a PUCCH transmission with the BS. In this case, the first message indicates a first configuration corresponding to the first TRP and the first configuration comprises at least one power control parameter associated with the first TRP. The message further indicates a second configuration corresponding to the second TRP and the second configuration comprises at least one power control parameter associated with the second TRP. The processor performs the PUCCH transmission with the BS via the first and second TRPs based on the first message. In this way, the reliability and robustness of the PUCCH transmission for multiple TRP is enhanced.
