    Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for a media guidance application that intuitively and efficiently allows a user to navigate a large amount of media content on a variety of user devices. Specifically, the media guidance application may provide a user with cluster-based search results. The media guidance application may intelligently select the clusters presented to a user, and attributes of those clusters, in order to assist the user in navigating the available content.

    Abstract: Sensors disposed on a steering wheel sense contact of a user's hands with the steering wheel. The sensors are arranged into several zones that wrap around the steering wheel. Each zone is adjacent to at least two other zones. Data from the sensors is continuously received by input/output circuitry. Control circuitry determines a time series of pressures for each zone based on the data from the sensors. The time series of pressures for the zones are stored in a data structure that is looped. The time series of pressures of the data structure is compared to a time series of pressures of a reference data structure. An action to control at least one element of the vehicle is performed based on the comparison. In some embodiments, the steering wheel includes handlebars and the sensors are disposed in handlebar grips.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamically skipping a presentation of a portion of frames to catch up to live based on a user selection is disclosed herein. For example, a streaming application generates a content item for live streaming where the content item comprises a plurality of frames. In response to determining that playing of the content item lags behind the live streaming of the content item, the streaming application presents a selectable option for a user input where the option comprises (a) catch up to live in a particular time period. In response to receiving the user input via a corresponding option to (a) catch up to live in the particular time period, the streaming application skips a presentation of a portion of the plurality of frames, such that the playing of the content item catches up to live in the particular time period.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for extending the span of content displayed in a first view frustum by virtually overlaying a virtual portion of the content on a display of an XR device are described. A composite image, which includes a primary image portion, and an enhanced image portion are requested. The primary image portion is to be displayed on a physical display having a first view frustum. Characteristics of the enhanced image portion are determined based on factors such as the user comfort, field of view from the XR device, and system rendering and encoding capabilities. The primary image portion is displayed in a first view frustum simultaneously and synchronized with the enhanced image portion in a second view frustum. The enhanced image portion is anchored, and color matched with the primary image portion to provide the appearance of one single composite display that has image and color continuity.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying certain objects within 360-degree content for user interaction. Objects within 360-degree content may be identified, and the corresponding segments of 360-degree content may be assigned a score according to how likely they may be to meet certain criteria, such as the likelihood that the user may interact with the object or its segment. Scores may be assigned in any manner, such as with reference to retrieved user information. In highly scored segments, users may be encouraged to pause the content at that segment, and interact with its objects. Encouragement may take any form, such as highlighting the segment or some component thereof. Likewise, interaction may also take any form, such as the allowing the user to alter the appearance of one or more segment objects in some way. In this manner, increased user interaction with 360-degree video is allowed, increasing viewer interest and engagement.

    Abstract: Authentication of a user wearing a head mounted display using wireless channel characteristics, such as wireless channel sounding, is disclosed. A transmission signal from a signal transmitter passes over the face or other parts of the head of the user and is received by a signal receiver, also in, at or near the head mounted display. The input signal received is processed according to the known transmission signal that was transmitted to obtain wireless channel characteristics. Based on these wireless channel characteristics a signal signature is identified, for example, using a machine learning based embedding technique. If the signal signature thus determined matches a signal signature previously associated with the user then the user is authenticated. User access to a resource or action may then be granted automatically.
