Abstract:
A method of tensioning multiple webs of print media for a web printer is presented. The method comprises the steps of: feeding each print media web through a print media feeding path of the web printer; and attaching one or more tensioning weights to each print media web so as to impart a tension in each print media web. The total weight value of the one or more tensioning weights attached to each web of print media is substantially the same so that the tension imparted in each print media web is substantially equal.
Abstract:
A web conveyance mechanism for conveying a band-type web includes: a side guide provided on one end side of the web in its width direction that guides one end of the web in the width direction which abuts on the side guide and that serves as a positional reference in the width direction for the web; an abutting unit that pushes the web to the side guide and adjusts an abutting force with which the web pushes the side guide; a measuring unit that measures the abutting force with which the web abutting on the side guide pushes the side guide; and a controller that adjusts the abutting unit so as to obtain a desired abutting force based on a result of detection by the measuring unit.
Abstract:
The image forming apparatus comprises: an object liquid ejection device which ejects object liquid containing coloring material and solvent, onto a recording medium; a separating device which separates the coloring material and the solvent in the object liquid ejected on the recording medium; and a solvent removal device including an absorbing body which absorbs the solvent, the absorbing body being pressed against the object liquid in which the coloring material and the solvent are separated by the separating device, wherein an elastic modulus En of the absorbing body in a pressing direction in which the absorbing body is pressed against the object liquid ejected on the recording medium, and an elastic modulus Es of the absorbing body in an orthogonal direction perpendicular to the pressing direction, satisfy the following relationship: En
Abstract:
An image recording apparatus comprises a plurality of drums for holding a recording medium on their perimeter faces and for being able to rotate the recording medium, and printing unit, which are arranged as opposed to the perimeter faces of the drums, for being able to make printing on the recording medium. A tension generating unit for applying a tension to the recording medium is arranged in the upstream and the downstream of the drums on the conveyance path of the recording medium. A drum in the downmost stream side of the conveyance path is used as a driving drum, and the other drums are used as driven drums.
Abstract:
A spool, such as supply for a wide-format printer, is provided. The spool comprises a spindle for slidingly receiving an outer shaft, which is typically the core of a roll of print media. A first resiliently deformable gripping ring is circumferentially mounted about the spindle, and a compression mechanism is provided for axially compressing the gripping ring. The axial compression causes radial expansion of the gripping ring, thereby urging the gripping ring into gripping engagement with the outer shaft received on the spindle.
Abstract:
A printer forms an image on a print sheet drawn from a print sheet roll, with using a print head. A transport roller unit for drawing the print sheet from the roll and transporting it to the print head includes a drive roller for taking up the print sheet around a peripheral surface thereof for a predetermined distance in a transporting direction, with the printing face thereof being on the inner side, thus applying a transporting force thereto and an opposing portion for causing the print sheet into abutment against the peripheral surface of the drive roller.
Abstract:
An image forming system includes: a first image forming device forming an image on continuous paper fed from a first feeding device; and a turn bar device provided on downstream of the first image forming device and wrapping the continuous paper around a turn bar arranged at approximately 45°, with respect to an advancing direction, reversing front and rear surfaces thereof. The turn bar device includes a first transport path carrying the continuous paper out approximately perpendicular to the carrying-in direction, a second transport path for transporting the continuous paper out in the same direction as the first transport path carrying-in direction. The image forming system further includes a second image forming device that forms an image on continuous paper carried out of the first transport.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a feeder cutter that pulls media from a continuous roll of media and feeds it to a print engine. The feeder cutter includes a number of subsystems that draw media from the media source, present the media to the print engine and maintain tension on the media. The feeder cutter isolates the velocity used to feed media from the media source from the velocity used to feed media within the print engine. At the end of a print job, the feeder cutter cuts the media under tension and minimizes the media wasted between print jobs.
Abstract:
There is described a thermal printer assembly which includes an elongated thermal print head oriented substantially orthogonally to a print media path and a platen roller, aligned with and opposed to the elongated thermal print head, and adapted to pressure the print media against the print head. The assembly may include one or more additional print heads.
Abstract:
The invention provides an image forming method and apparatus capable of forming an image with a desired shape at a correct position on a recording medium having expansion and contraction properties. Boundary lines formed on the recording medium being conveyed are detected by a sensor. Distortion of the recording medium is evaluated on the basis of the detected boundary lines. Image data is corrected in accordance with the result of the evaluation and an image is formed in accordance with the corrected image data. In the above process, image data within the respective areas surrounded by the boundary lines is deformed such that the image is printed at a correct location even when the recording medium has distortion due to expansion/contraction.
