    Abstract: Enabling Ethernet Header Compression (EHC) for use with data sent within a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) control plane of a wireless communication network. In one aspect, a wireless communication device sends a signal to a wireless communication network indicating the device supports EHC for data transfer over a control plane. The device obtains a response from the wireless communication network indicating the wireless communication network supports EHC for data transfer over the control plane. The device then sends an Ethernet packet compressed using EHC to the wireless communication network over the control plane. The wireless communication device may be configured to send a request to the wireless communication network to use EHC before sending the Ethernet packet compressed using EHC. The device then sends the compressed Ethernet packet only if the request is granted. In another aspects, complementary EHC features are provided within a network component of the wireless communication network.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to mechanisms for proximity service (ProSe) authorization and provisioning. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to support ProSe communication and may indicate this capability to a radio access network (RAN) and a core network during registration of the UE. Based on the ProSe indication, the RAN may select an access and mobility management function (AMF) that supports ProSe authorization and policy provisioning and forward a registration request indicating the UE supports ProSe communication to the selected AMF. Upon authorizing the UE for ProSe operation, the AMF may transmit a registration accept message including a ProSe supported indication to the UE. The UE may then initiate a ProSe session with another UE based on the ProSe supported indication in the registration accept message.

In some aspects, a user equipment may provide a session request associated with establishing a proximity services (ProSe) session. The session request may include ProSe session specific information including information that indicates a ProSe service type associated with the ProSe session. The user equipment may receive a session establishment response after providing the session request. The session establishment response may include at least one of a ProSe session authorization indication associated with the UE, or ProSe policy information for the ProSe service type associated with the ProSe session.     Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may update multicast-broadcast key for securing a data session for a multicast or broadcast service. The UE may receive a multicast-broadcast key for the for a multicast or broadcast service carried by a radio bearer (RB) associated with the data session. The UE may receive packets for the multicast or broadcast service. The UE may decode the packets using the multicast-broadcast key, or a key derived from the multicast-broadcast key.
