Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device may generate a orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) waveform for transmission to a second wireless device. Generation of an OTFS waveform may include mapping information samples to a delay-Doppler resource grid having a set of delay values and a set of Doppler values. A channel estimation block may occupy one or more rows of the delay-Doppler grid. When mapping information samples to the delay-Doppler grid, the transmitting device may first map information samples in the delay dimension (e.g., first map all of the symbols in one column of the delay-Doppler grid before mapping information samples into a second column). Such a mapping scheme may reduce the distance from any given information sample to the channel estimation block.

For example, a user equipment (UE) may receive a synchronization signal block (SSB) from a base station, the SSB including a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a data payload, and a demodulation reference signal (DMRS). The UE may identify a first part of a cell identifier (ID) of the base station, a second part of the cell ID, or both, indicated in a sequence of the DMRS, indicated in the data payload, or a combination thereof. The UE may monitor for a message from the base station based on identifying the cell ID.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. For example, a wireless device may support physical broadcast channel (PBCH) precoding in high-doppler scenarios. In some cases, a base station may generate a synchronization signal block (SSB) including synchronization signals and PBCH signaling. The base station may transmit, to a UE, the PBCH signaling in accordance with an orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) precoding and the synchronization signals in accordance with a non-OTFS precoding. The UE may monitor for the SSB and receive the PBCH signaling in accordance with the OTFS precoding and the synchronization signals in accordance with a non-OTFS precoding. The UE may establish or modify a connection with the base station according to the PBCH signaling.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some networks, a user equipment (UE) may perform radio link monitoring according to one or more radio link monitoring configurations. The UE may select a radio link monitoring configuration from a first radio link monitoring configuration associated with radio link monitoring over a duration that a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process is enabled and a second radio link monitoring configuration associated with radio link monitoring over a duration that the HARQ process is disabled. The UE may monitor reference signals using the selected radio link monitoring configuration, and may determine a radio link failure, a beam failure, or both has occurred based on monitoring the one or more reference signals using the selected radio link monitoring configuration. The UE may subsequently transmit a measurement report based on determining the radio link failure, the beam failure, or both.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for indication of one or more symbol structures for one or multiple subsets of a set of symbols. The one or more symbol structures may include one or more guard interval (GI)-based symbol formats that are to be applied to one or more of the subsets of symbols. Different symbol formats may be indicated for different subsets of symbols, and a first subset of symbols may use a GI-based symbol format and a second subset of symbols may use a CP-based or GI-based symbol format. A base station may transmit control signaling to a user equipment to indicate one or more symbol structures for the one or more subsets of symbols, and the UE and the base station may communicate data in one or more slots in accordance with the indicated symbol structures based on the control signaling.

A wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling from a scheduling device such as a base station which indicates a configuration for decoding control channel information at the UE using a single discrete transform process. In such cases, the configuration may be for decoding control channel information such as downlink control information (DCI) that is time multiplexed with data channel information in one or more symbols of a single carrier waveform. Using the configuration, the UE may decode the control channel information and the data channel information using the discrete transform process.

A user equipment (UE) and a satellite of a non-terrestrial network (NTN) may establish communications on a beam of the satellite. The UE may receive, on a first carrier of a first set of carriers associated with a first beam, a configuration for the first set of carriers associated with the first beam and a second set of carriers associated with a second beam. The first carrier may be used to send a first set of synchronization signals, and a second carrier of the second set of carriers may be used to send a second set of synchronization signals. The UE may identify some system information associated with the second set of carriers based on the configuration and reselect to the second beam based on the configuration.

A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling identifying a configuration for a reference signal comprising a single carrier waveform and associated with single carrier signals for a plurality of symbol periods, the configuration indicating a plurality of channels associated with the reference signal and a set of functions associated with the reference signal. The UE may receive, according to the configuration, the reference signal in a first one or more symbol periods of the plurality of symbol periods and the single carrier signals on the plurality of channels in a second one or more symbol periods of the plurality of symbol periods. The UE may perform the set of functions on the received single carrier signals based at least in part on the received reference signal.

In some systems, a base station may configure a set of transmission parts each including different sets of time domain resources or different sets of frequency domain resources, or both, and may specify a waveform type for each of the set of transmission parts. In some examples, the base station may configure the set of transmission parts for a user equipment (UE) and, accordingly, the UE and the base station may communicate over a transmission part of the set of transmission parts via signaling that is based on a waveform type that is associated with the transmission part over which the UE and the base station communicate. The base station may control over which transmission part of the set of transmission parts the UE and the base station communicate via a configured timer or via explicit activation and deactivation signaling.
