    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A receiving device may detect a signal associated with low latency transmissions and decode a non-low latency communication accordingly. The receiving device may receive an indicator from a transmitting device that indicates where and when low latency communications occur. The indication may specify frequency resources or symbols used by the low latency communication. The indicator may be transmitted during the same subframe as the low latency communication, at the end of a subframe, or during a subsequent subframe. The receiving device may use the indicator to mitigate low latency interference, generate channel estimates, and reliably decode the non-low latency communication. In some cases, the interfering low latency communication may occur within the serving cell of the receiving device; or the interfering low latency communication may occur in a neighboring cell.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for direct current (DC) subcarrier handling for narrowband user equipment (UE). A UE may identify a narrow bandwidth region allocated for operation within a wide bandwidth carrier, determine that the narrow bandwidth region is centered about a different frequency than a center subcarrier of the wide bandwidth carrier, and, accordingly, select an operating mode. Various operating modes may include down-converting a carrier frequency of the allocated narrow bandwidth region. A base station may support narrowband UE operation by determining that the narrow bandwidth region is centered about a different frequency than a center subcarrier of the wide bandwidth carrier and rate matching subcarriers of the narrow bandwidth region around tones of a center frequency of the narrow bandwidth region.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may broadcast a synchronization signal using a narrowband portion of a bandwidth of a cell. The synchronization signal may include a sequence repeated over several symbol periods using a cover code to support power-efficient cell acquisition. A user equipment (UE) receiving the synchronization signal may determine frequency and timing information for a cell by performing a weighted combination and accumulation of low complexity autocorrelation and cross-correlation procedures on the synchronization signal. The reduced complexity correlation procedures may be enabled based on the use of the cover code and a base sequence. In some cases, the cross-correlation may be performed at multiple sampling rates. The use of the cover code within the synchronization signal may also support correlation procedures that use recursive or repeated updates, which may allow for further reduced computational complexity relative to other cell search procedures.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, devices, or apparatuses may support paging for machine type communication (MTC) devices. In one example, a base station may identify a mode of operation to be used for MTC. Based on the identified mode of operation, the base station may determine a subframe to be used for a paging occasion for a user equipment (UE) with which the base station communicates using MTC. A base station may also repeat a page in a number of subframes according to a repetition level for a paging occasion. The page may be for one or more UEs using MTC. The base station may identify the starting subframe for the paging occasion. The base station may then transmit the page based at least in part on the repetition level, where the page may be scrambled by the base station based at least in part on the starting subframe.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may establish a dynamic coverage enhancement (CE) configuration and then autonomously transition from one CE level to another while in idle mode. The network may blindly detect the CE change during a paging procedure. For example, a mobility management entity (MME) may store dynamic CE information, and it may provide the dynamic CE information to base stations when the UE is paged. In some cases, the base stations may autonomously retransmit paging messages at different CE levels based on the dynamic CE information. In other examples, the MME may direct the base station to retransmit at different CE levels.

    Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. In an aspect, the apparatus may configure at least a first resource set and a second resource set for a control channel. The first and second resource sets may be configured with a common reference signal configuration. The apparatus also configures first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate-matching parameters for the second resource set. Then, the apparatus transmits the first rate-matching parameters and the second rate-matching parameters and transmits the control channel using the first resource set and the second resource set.
