Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses to manage mobility in a wireless communication system. A user equipment (UE) may include a wireless communication apparatus and an application processor (AP). In some aspects, the wireless communication apparatus may monitor cells using a first criterion to detect problematic cells. For example, the first criterion may be associated with a history of ping-pong events or a history of data transmission errors. The wireless communication apparatus may select a cell for communication using a cell selection criteria that deprioritizes selection of problematic cells. In some aspects, the wireless communication apparatus may receive a list of cells from the AP or a server, the list identifying cells considered to be problematic cells. The wireless communication apparatus may adjust the first criterion to expedite detection of problematic cells. In some aspects, the server may aggregate and redistribute information about problematic cells from a plurality of UEs.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, an apparatus of a user equipment (UE) may determine a set of inputs to a neural network configured to predict radio frequency channel conditions or a user context associated with the UE. In some aspects, the set of inputs includes historical data related to a wireless environment, a communication pattern, or a behavior pattern associated with the UE. The apparatus of the UE may determine, using the neural network and based at least in part on the set of inputs, an optimal number of aggregated carriers to maximize one or more of a power parameter or a performance parameter. The apparatus of the UE may communicate using the optimal number of aggregated carriers. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for communicating, by a user equipment (UE), over multiple slices. A method that may be performed by the UE includes transmitting, from an operating system (OS) to a modem, an indication of a start network request originating from an application, the transmitting of the indication based on a determination that a traffic descriptor associated with the application is a non-default descriptor. The method may also include determining one or more parameters for establishing a new network connection for the application, the one or more parameters determined based on a routing policy that provides mapping between the traffic descriptor and the one or more parameters.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to mobility with consideration for network slicing are provided. In one embodiment, a user equipment (UE) transmits in a first cell frequency of a network, a request for a network slice of the network that is not provided by the first cell frequency. The UE receives, in response to the request, an information for communicating in a second cell frequency of the network that provides the requested network slice. In one embodiment, a core network entity receives, from a base station (BS) operating over a first cell frequency of a network, a request to provide a network slice of the network to a UE, the network slice not provided by the first cell frequency. The core network entity transmits, to the BS, information associated with a second cell frequency of the network providing the network slice.

Based on the provided one or more future locations, the edge data network may provide to the UE one or more edge data network configurations for different UE locations. As the UE moves to different locations, different edge data network configurations may be used, thereby enhancing efficiency of UE operation in the edge data network.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) determines a tune-away gap in which the UE performs a tune-away from a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second RAT on a single radio frequency (RF) chain, and transmits an intended-false buffer status report (BSR) to modify a duration of the determined tune-away gap. The intended-false BSR indicates an intended-false value of uplink data pending in a buffer to be transmitted on the first RAT, so that an uplink grant for uplink data transmissions on the first RAT to be received at the UE is modified.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may detect a high speed mobility condition and a directionality of movement based on signal measurements, such as location or Doppler measurements. The UE may adjust a measurement reporting process (e.g., a time-to-trigger (TTT) parameter, a signal quality metric, a measurement reporting delay, etc.) based on the high speed mobility condition and the directionality of movement. If the UE detects the high speed mobility condition, the UE may add the physical cell identifier (PCI) of the serving cell to a list of recent serving cells. If a neighboring cell is also on the list of recent serving cells, the UE may adjust a measurement reporting process, which may affect whether the UE is directed to perform handover to the neighboring cell based on whether the neighboring cell is on the list of recent serving cells or not.
