Abstract:
Method for tracking an object recorded within a selected frame of a sequence of frames of video data, using a plurality of layers, where at least one object layer of the plurality of layers represents the object includes initializing layer ownership probabilities for pixels of the selected frame using a non-parametric motion model, estimating a set of motion parameters of the plurality of layers for the selected frame using a parametric maximization algorithm and tracking the object. The non-parametric motion model is optical flow and includes warping the mixing probabilities, the appearances of the plurality of layers, and the observed pixel data from the pixels of the preceding frame to the pixels of the selected frame to initialize the layer ownership probabilities for the pixels of the selected frame.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method of providing a graphical user interface (GUI) for a plurality of optimization solvers is provided. The method includes providing the GUI for the plurality of optimization solvers, the GUI including a control to select a solver from the plurality of solvers; receiving a selection of a first solver from the plurality of optimization solvers; and displaying in the GUI contents tailored to the first solver, the GUI contents including an objective function, wherein the objective function is in an expression in an array-based language.
Abstract:
A composition comprising perfluoro-[2,2]-paracyclophane dimer compound is disclosed. The synthesis reaction of the paracyclophane dimer from 1,4-bis(chlorodifluoromethane)-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorobenzene involves heating in the presence of a metal catalyst and a solvent. A perfluorinated paraxylylene coating formed from the perfluorinated paracyclophane dimer is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for video surveillance is disclosed. In one embodiment, a sequence of scene imagery representing a field of view is received. One or more moving objects are identified within the sequence of scene imagery and then classified in accordance with one or more extracted spatio-temporal features. This classification may then be applied to determine whether the moving object and/or its behavior fits one or more known events or behaviors that are causes for alarm.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and system for creating a strong classifier based on motion patterns wherein the strong classifier may be used to determine an action being performed by a body in motion. When creating the strong classifier, action classification is performed by measuring similarities between features within motion patterns. Embodiments of the present invention may utilize candidate part-based action sets and training samples to train one or more weak classifiers that are then used to create a strong classifier.
Abstract:
In performing a pattern search algorithm to find an optimal solution for an optimization, using a set of positive basis vectors that is non-maximal like a set of minimal positive basis vectors as search directions can sometimes causes the algorithm to converge at a non-optimal solution, like a horse saddle. The present invention provides a method to overcome this deficiency by rotating the vectors and hence increase the number of search directions.
Abstract:
Disclosed are nucleosides which are useful in diagnosing and treating viral infections, for example, infections caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV), and herpes viruses including Epstein Barr virus.
Abstract:
A system and method for identifying objects, particularly vehicles, between two non-overlapping cameras. More specifically, the method and system determines whether a vehicle depicted in an image captured by a first camera is the same vehicle or a different vehicle than a vehicle depicted in an image captured by a second camera. This intra-camera analysis determines whether the vehicle viewed by the first camera is the same as the vehicle viewed by the second camera, without directly matching the two vehicle images, thus eliminating the problems and inaccuracies caused by disparate environmental conditions acting on the two cameras, such as dramatic appearance and aspect changes.

Abstract:
Systems and techniques for synthesizing high-resolution images are described. Using as input hybrid high- and low-resolution images (110, 120), processing techniques including three-dimensional image warp-based (160) rendering may assist in developing the high-resolution output images. Enhanced results may in some instances be obtained by creating a high-resolution images of one member of a pair of stereo images by utilizing multiple frames of the other member of the pair.
