Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed to enhance the efficiency of available bandwidth between UEs and base stations. A UE transmits a sounding reference signal (SRS) to the base station. The base station characterizes the uplink channel based on the SRS received and, using reciprocity, applies the channel characterization for the downlink channel. As part of applying the channel information, the base station forms the beam to the UE based on the uplink channel information obtained from the SRS. The UE may include an array of antennas, each UE transmitting a different SRS that the base station receives and uses to characterize the downlink. Multiple UEs (or a single UE with multiple antennas) transmit SRS at the same time and frequency allocation (non-orthogonal), but with each sending its own unique SRS. Further, multiple UEs (or a single UE with multiple antennas) may send their SRS at unique time/frequency allocations (orthogonal).

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe a guard band signal for communication on a guard band between a first frequency band utilized by a first radio access technology having a first sub-carrier spacing and a second frequency band utilized by a second radio access technology having a second sub-carrier spacing that is a multiple of the first sub-carrier spacing. The guard band signal includes a symbol that is repeated a number of times equal to the multiple. The guard band signal may be generated and transmitted by a transmitting device. The guard band signal may be received and decoded by a receiving device. The guard band signal is interpretable according to a first numerology of the first radio access technology and according to a second numerology of the second radio access technology.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a wireless device that communicates with another wireless device utilizing self-contained subframes. The wireless device communicates with a scheduling entity utilizing a plurality of self-contained subframes that include a first subframe and a second subframe. Each of the self-contained subframes includes an uplink (UL) portion and a downlink (DL) portion. The wireless device further receives DL control information from the scheduling entity in the DL portion of the first subframe, and transmits UL data that includes a plurality of reference signal bursts to the scheduling entity in the UL portion of the first subframe. Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes identifying a plurality of channel responses corresponding to a plurality of channels. Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to scheduling data transmissions based on an end-to-end delay bound. In some aspects, timing information is transmitted in conjunction with data over a given hop, where the timing information is based on an end-to-end delay bound for the data transmission (e.g., according to a latency requirement). For example, the timing information may indicate the time remaining for transmission of a response to the data or the deadline for completing the response. A scheduler that receives the timing information may schedule another transmission (e.g., a response) based on the timing information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. One method includes identifying a plurality of intermediate precoders corresponding to a plurality of tone subsets. The plurality of intermediate precoders define a plurality of vectors across the plurality of tone subsets. The method further includes selecting, for each vector of the plurality of vectors, a subset of non-frequency domain components of the vector, such as time-domain components; modifying the plurality of intermediate precoders to a plurality of smoothed precoders based at least in part on the selected subset of non-frequency domain components for each vector; and precoding a plurality of transmit streams using the plurality of smoothed precoders. The plurality of smoothed precoders is smoothed in a frequency domain compared to the plurality of intermediate precoders. Smoothing precoders may enable application of wideband channel estimation techniques using user equipment (UE)-specific reference signals.
