Abstract: Due to the limited dimension of a NB that may be used by multiple users, as well as possible large coverage areas, timing offset estimation may be outside of NCP. The inaccuracy in the timing estimate can be improved by using more than one tone hopping distance for PRACH. An apparatus may then transmit a first and second tone of the PRACH at a first hopping distance from the first tone. The apparatus may then transmit a third tone of the PRACH and a fourth tone of the PRACH at a second hopping distance from the third tone. The second hopping distance may be greater than first hopping distance. The apparatus may also transmit an additional tone of the PRACH using a random hopping distance. A receiving apparatus may receive the transmitted PRACH and determine a phase estimation based on the sets of tones having different hopping distances.

Abstract: An apparatus may receive signaling from a base station that indicates different tone indices. The apparatus may further transmit a plurality of symbols in a single tone uplink transmission. In an aspect, groups of symbols in the plurality of symbols are transmitted using the different tone indices of the single tone uplink transmission indicated by the received signaling. A second apparatus may signal to at least one user equipment (UE) information associated with different tone indices for use in transmitting a plurality of symbols in a single tone uplink transmission. The second apparatus may further receive the plurality of symbols in the single tone uplink transmission. In an aspect, pairs of symbols in the plurality of symbols are received in different tone indices of the single tone uplink transmission.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine that it is communicating with a particular type of cell (e.g., an air to ground (ATG) cell), and may utilize a timing advance (TA) report format corresponding to the determined cell type. The TA report for an ATG cell may use all 16 bits of a TA report to indicate a TA value according to a small time unit. The TA report for an ATG cell may utilize a subset of bits to indicate a symbol-level TA, and the remainder of bits in the TA report may be unused. The TA report for an ATG cell may be a single octet TA report, including reserved bits and a bit that indicates a format for the TA report, and the TA value. The TA report may include reserved bits and the TA value.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may account for the application of orthogonal cover coding (OCC) to an uplink transmission when determining the transport block size (TBS) for the uplink transmission. OCC may be used to multiplex transmissions from multiple UEs and may involve spreading information. Described techniques may involve accounting for the spreading of information bits when determining the TBS for the uplink transmission to which OCC is applied. Sub-physical resource block (sub-PRB) frequency allocations may be provided for uplink transmissions. The UE may account for the allocated quantity of sub-carriers when determining the quantity of information bits. To indicate a sub-PRB, the UE may be configured to reinterpret one or more fields of an existing downlink control information (DCI) format as indicating the allocated sub-carriers, or a new DCI format may be configured that includes fields for indicating a sub-PRB allocation.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive control messages including information indicative of a resource allocation associated with a discontinuous operation at a serving cell of the UE. The resource allocation may further be associated with at least one non-terrestrial network (NTN) cell serving a coverage area including the UE. The UE may communicate, during an active period associated with the discontinuous operation, data messages via frequency resources of a first frequency band in accordance with the resource allocation associated with the discontinuous operation. The active period at the serving cell may be non-overlapping with a second active period associated with a second discontinuous operation at a second cell. The UE may communicate, during an inactive period associated with the discontinuous operation, signals via frequency resources of a second frequency band in accordance with the resource allocation associated with the discontinuous operation.

The UE may calculate, in accordance with the quantity of nominal time domain windows being a single nominal time domain window or the quantity of actual time domain windows being a single actual time domain window, and in accordance with an indication that antenna switching is enabled, an adjusted nominal time domain window duration in accordance with applying a parameter to the nominal time domain window duration. The UE may calculate an adjusted quantity of nominal time domain windows and may identify a plurality of actual time domain windows. Numerous other aspects are described.
