    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to relaying data between a PC5 remote UE and a network entity (e.g., 5G core network entity) via an inter-working function (e.g., N3IWF) over sidelink UE-to-NW relay access. In an example operation, a relay UE establishes a connection with the network entity and determines whether relay access to the network entity via an inter-working function device is supported at the relay UE. The relay UE then indicates, to the remote UE, support of the relay access to the network entity via the inter-working function device. The relay UE receives, from the remote UE, a request to relay data between the remote UE and the network entity via the inter-working function device, and thereafter, relays the data between the remote UE and the network entity via the inter-working function device based on the request. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: A remote UE may transmit, to at least one of a source master network entity or a target master network entity, an indication of a first entity change and a second entity change. The remote UE may receive, from the target master network entity, a measurement configuration during an RRC reestablishment procedure with the target master network entity. The remote UE may transmit, to the target master network entity during the RRC reestablishment procedure, one or more measurements corresponding to the second entity change. The remote UE may receive, from the target master network entity, a dual connectivity configuration based on the transmitted one or more measurements. The dual connectivity configuration may correspond to the first entity change and the second entity change. The remote UE may communicate with the target master network entity and the target secondary network entity based on the dual connectivity configuration.

    Abstract: A remote UE may detect one or more relay UEs for a dual connectivity configuration for communication with a first network entity and a second network entity. The dual connectivity configuration may include a primary connection with the first network entity and a secondary connection with the second network entity. The remote UE may receive, from the first network entity, a configuration for establishing the secondary connection via one of the one or more relay UEs based on a decision at the first network entity. The remote UE may establish the secondary connection via the one of the one or more relay UEs for communication with the second network entity. The remote UE may configure one or more second bearers for the secondary connection via the one of the one or more relay UEs. The one or more second bearers may support data transmission via the secondary connection.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) may relay wireless communications between a first base station and a second UE via at least a sidelink communication link with the second UE. The first UE may transmit, to the first base station, a measurement report for one or more candidate base stations, the measurement report indicating that the one or more candidate base stations support sidelink relay operation. The first UE may receive instructions to perform a handover procedure from the first base station to a second base station of the one or more candidate base stations based on the measurement report, where the second base station supports sidelink relay operation. The first UE may then perform the handover procedure including establishing a wireless connection with the second base station based on the instructions.
