    摘要: A corrosion inhibitor is described which includes several supramolecular oxo-anion compositions useful for preventing the propagation of pit corrosion on aluminum and aluminum alloys. The oxo-anion compositions preferably include soluble polymeric oxidic acids comprising combinations of molybdenum, phosphorous, tungsten, and silicon. These compositions are useful as corrosion inhibitors in high-moisture, corrosive environments, such as radiators and cooling systems. For low-moisture environments, these oxo-anion compositions can be reacted with a counter-ion, such as various metals, including, but not limited to the rear earth metals, to form a soluble salt. The salt can then be adsorbed onto a carrier, such as paint pigments, which can then be applied to the surfaces of aluminum and aluminum alloys. These surface adsorbates then become sparingly soluble and are gradually released over time in the presence of an aqueous corrosive agent so as to prevent propagation of pit corrosion.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for monitoring and controlling pH, phosphate, and sodium to phosphate ratio in boiler systems operating with captive alkalinity chemistry are described. The methods for monitoring and controlling these parameters include the steps of determining the phosphate concentration via FIA, determining the pH, and using these values to determine the sodium to phosphate ratio. These values are then compared to the optimum values for the boiler system being treated; on the basis of this comparison, adjustments to the feed rate of water treatment chemicals being added to the system are then made. The apparatus includes a device for determining phosphate concentration via FIA, a device for determining pH, a means for determining sodium to phosphate ratio and a device for adjusting the feed rate of water treatment chemicals being added to the system. The device for adjusting the chemical feed rate is computer controlled.

    摘要: There is disclosed a method to inhibit the corrosion of metals by sodium chloride and calcium chloride solutions by incorporating in the solutions a mixture of mono- and di-hydrogen orthophosphates. Sodium chloride solutions which contain calcium chloride, e.g., rock salt solutions, are inhibited against corrosion when the percentage of dihydrogen orthophosphate is from 10 to 60 percent of the mixture of di- and mono-hydrogen orthophosphates. Calcium chloride solutions are inhibited against corrosion when the percentage of dihydrogen orthophosphate is from 50 to 100 percent of the mixture of di- and mono-hydrogen orthophosphates.

    摘要: A coolant comprising water and one of 1-methoxy-2-propanol, 2-methoxy-1-propanol or mixtures thereof, resistant to degradation of fluoroelastomers and which is inhibited against corrosion of ferrous metals, aluminum and solder is disclosed. The desired coolant is prepared by reacting in situ or adding the reaction product of one or more phosphoric acids and an inorganic base selected from potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide or mixtures thereof, and optionally contains, as a copper or brass deactivator mercaptobenzothiazole, a benzotriazole, a sodium or potassium salt of mercaptobenzothiazole or a benzotriazole, or mixtures of these, wherein the pH of the coolant is adjusted to between about 6 and about 9 by balancing the relative amounts of phosphoric acids and inorganic bases to attain said pH. For example, about 53 parts 1-methoxy-2-propanol, 46 parts water, 0.8 parts K.sub.2 HPO.sub.4, 0.1 part orthophosphoric acid and 0.1 part sodium tolutriazole yield a coolant of about pH 8 which gives low corrosion of metals commonly employed in cooling systems and does not induce excessive swelling or cracking and crazing of fluoroelastomers.
