A multilayer optical information recording medium includes optical information recording layers, and dielectric multilayer reflecting layers provided under the optical information recording layers respectively. Each of the dielectric multilayer reflecting layers includes: a laminate of low refractive index films and high refractive index films; and a variable refractive index film exhibiting change of refractive index induced by laser beam irradiation. Each of the dielectric multilayer reflecting layers is provided so that reflectance of a portion used for reading/writing information by condensed laser beam irradiation is high while transmittance of the other portion is high. It is possible to reduce intensity of laser beam to be irradiated to the medium.

A sheet conveying section (B) sequentially conveys a sheet (P) from a sheet feeding section (A), and a sheet folding section (D) folds the sheet (P) received from the sheet conveying section (B) in a conveying direction. The sheet conveying section (B) comprises a conveyer belt (3), and a positioning ruler (4) for positioning the sheet (P) while it is conveyed. The sheet folding section (D) comprises a folding knife (9), a pair of folding rollers (10), and first and second guides (11a, 11b) arranged on either side of the folding knife (9). The sheet (p) is positioned to a fold position by the first and second guides (11a, 11b) and folded by the folding knife (9) and the folding roller (10). The positioning ruler (4) is moved in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction by a first driving mechanism (5, 6). The first and second guides (11a) are moved in the direction perpendicular to the conveying direction respectively by second and third driving mechanisms (21, 22; 23, 24). Control section (32) moves the first and second guides (11a, 11b) in conjunction with the movement of the positioning ruler (4) and moves the second guide (11b) with conjunction with the movement of the first guide (11a) and allows the independent movement of the second guide (11b).

There are provided a pair of rollers (W, W1; W, W2; W2, W3; W3, W4) for taking a sheet in a buckle zones (b1-b4), and a pair of rollers (W, W2; W2, W3; W3, W4; W4, W5) for folding a portion of the sheet deflecting from the buckle zones (b1-b4). A rotating shaft of at least one of the rollers of each of the roller pairs is carried by one end of a lever (6). The lever (6) is arranged for swing around a supporting point (8), and the other end of the lever (6) is provided with a spring resiliently biasing the roller carried by the lever (6) in a direction in which the roller is pressed against the counter roller. One end of an adjustment rod (15a-15e) is brought into contact with the other end of the lever (6). The adjustment rod (15a-15e) is guided by a guide (14) in a direction of its axis. The other end of the adjustment rod (15a-15e) is provided with a pulse motor (M1-M5) moving the adjustment rod (15a-15e) through the guide (14). The pulse motor (M1-M5)is driven, whereby the adjustment rod (15a-15e) is moved so as to swing the lever (6), and the gap length between the opposed rollers is adjusted.

An apparatus and method for speech information processing includes detecting a first operation of a speech processing start instruction element, controlling a display so that speech recognition information is displayed in response to the detection of the first operation, detecting a second operation of the speech processing start instruction element, acquiring speech information in response to detection of the second operation, and performing speech recognition processing on the speech information.

An information retrieval apparatus which retrieves a program by using speech recognition is provided. A recognition dictionary storage unit stores a recognition dictionary in which a lexicon for the speech recognition is described. A program information storage unit stores program information data. A viewing history storage unit stores a viewing history containing information of the viewed frequency of a program which a user viewed in the past. When a program which satisfies a criterion concerning the viewed frequency is extracted from the program information data, a related word of the extracted program is registered in the recognition dictionary. A speech recognition unit performs speech recognition with respect to an input speech by using the recognition dictionary in which the related word is registered. A retrieval unit retrieves a program corresponding to the result of the speech recognition from the program information data.

A speech recognition apparatus that requires a reduced amount of computation for likelihood calculation is provided. A language lookahead score for a node of interest is generated based on the language scores for each recognition word shared by the node of interest. To this is added the node's acoustic score, which is calculated based on the likelihood of the connected hypotheses expressed by a path from the root node to the parent node of the node of interest. From this added result, the language lookahead score resulting when the parent node is the node of interest is deleted, and the language lookahead score is updated by adding the language lookahead score of the node of interest. The updating of the language lookahead score is terminated at a specific position in the tree structure.

There are provided a method and apparatus of component mounting capable of avoiding damage caused by production operations with a component holder having debris thereon. If it is determined during a detecting step of a component holding condition that a component is held by a component holder in an improper condition for mounting, the component holder releases such a component into a collecting box, and skips a pick up operation at a next round of a pick up station. The component holder is then subjected to confirming whether any debris exists by using, preferably, a condition sensor, and the component holder picks up a new component if it is confirmed that no debris exists. If debris is found during the confirming step, production operations are stopped, or a warning is generated. After maintenance of the component holder is completed, production operations are restarted.

In a system implementing image retrieval by performing speech recognition on voice information added to an image, the speech recognition is triggered by an event, such as an image upload event, that is not an explicit speech-recognition order event. The system obtains voice information added to an image, detects an event, and performs speech recognition on the obtained voice information in response to a specific event, even if the detected event is not an explicit speech-recognition order event.
