Abstract: According to the present disclosure, CSI and/or a plurality of ACKs related to a group of DL data transmissions may be buffered at the UE as a GACK until a DCI trigger is received from the eNB. Once the trigger is received, the UE may transmit the CSI and/or GACK to the eNB. In this way HARQ feedback and/or CSI may be reliably communicated while reducing payload. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus send, to a UE, data transmissions associated with a first plurality of downlink subframes. In an aspect, the apparatus increments a counter for each data transmission sent to the UE. In a further aspect, the apparatus transmits, to the UE, a first trigger for a first GACK when a counter is greater than or equal to a threshold.

Abstract: Certain aspects relate to methods and apparatus for wireless communications, comprising determining to use a reduced paging cycle to page a user equipment (UE) of a first type that supports the reduced paging cycle, the reduced paging cycle having a shorter period relative to a paging cycle used with UEs of a second type which do not support the reduced paging cycle, and paging the UE of the first type in accordance with the reduced paging cycle. Certain aspects relate to methods and apparatus for conveying system information by a base station, comprising broadcasting a first system information common to each cell of a group of cells in an area and broadcasting a second system information that can vary between cells in the group of cells, wherein the second system information is broadcast more frequently than the first system information.

An example method may include monitoring, at a target base station, reference signal information associated with a UE based on a reference signal configuration of the UE received by the target base station from a source base station. Additionally, the example method may include estimating, at the target base station, timing information for the UE based on the reference signal information. Further, the example method may include transmitting, by the target base station, the timing information to the source base station, where the source base station provides the timing information to the UE for handover to the target base station.

Abstract: Methods for managing hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback are disclosed, where HARQ feedback operations by a receiving device may be modified. A receiving device may receive a data transmission. The receiving device may evaluate a condition for determining how to provide HARQ feedback in response to the data transmission. The receiving device may modify a HARQ feedback operation based at least in part on the condition. Modification of HARQ feedback operations may include turning off HARQ feedback, excluding negative acknowledgment (NAK) reporting, or excluding acknowledgement (ACK) reporting.

Abstract: Enhanced power headroom reporting (ePHR) for MTC devices. The ePHR techniques may include configuration and triggering of reporting when a corresponding change to a coverage enhancement (CE) level is likely to result. For example, ePHR may be based on parameters more directly related to PH change instead of PL changes. MTC devices may be configured with multiple thresholds for ePHR reporting that define ePHR regions associated with CE levels. In some examples, an ePHR triggered at the MAC level is used to trigger sending a request for uplink data resources. Legacy PH reporting may be disabled when ePHR is configured to reduce overhead.

Discontinuous reception (DRX) operation may be configured differently on enhanced component carriers (eCCs) than on other component carriers, including a primary cell (PCell). In some cases, a user equipment (UE) may be configured with several different eCC DRX modes. An eCC DRX configuration may, for example, be coordinated with downlink (DL) transmission time interval (TTI) scheduling so each DRX ON duration may correspond to a DL burst duration of the corresponding eCC. The eCC DRX ON durations may also be scheduled according to hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process scheduling. In some examples, eCC DRX ON durations may be based on listen-before-talk (LBT) procedures. In some cases, eCC DRX ON durations may be configured to contain an uplink (UL) burst to enable channel state information (CSI) reporting. The eCC DRX may also be configured to minimize interruption of the PCell.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may employ a multiplexing configuration based on latency and efficiency considerations. The base station may transmit a resource grant, a signal indicating the length of a downlink (DL) transmission time interval (TTI), and a signal indicating the length of a subsequent uplink (UL) TTI to one or more user equipment (UEs). The base station may dynamically select a new multiplexing configuration by, for example, setting the length of an UL TTI to zero or assigning multiple UEs resources in the same DL TTI. Latency may also be reduced by employing block feedback, such as block hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback. A UE may determine and transmit HARQ feedback for each transport block (TB) of a set of TBs, which may be based on a time duration of a downlink TTI.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method for wireless communication at a base station includes contending for access to a shared channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band, and multiplexing first component carrier (CC) communication windows and second CC communication windows in the shared channel. A duration of orthogonal frequency domain multiplexed (OFDM) symbols of the first CC communication windows may be different from a duration of OFDM symbols of the second CC communication windows, and the multiplexing may occur on the shared channel upon winning contention for access to the shared channel. One method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes monitoring a shared channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band for a first CC Listen Before Talk (LBT) frame, and receiving, in a second CC preamble, an indication of the first CC LBT frame.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for radio resource management (RRM) measurement and reporting for license assisted access (LAA) cells operating in unlicensed or shared frequency spectrum are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive an RRM measurement configuration including a channel occupancy parameter for measuring neighbor cells of a shared frequency band. The channel occupancy parameter may be used to determine a channel occupancy metric that may be sent to a base station for cell selection. The channel occupancy metric may include an averaged or filtered received signal strength and may be reported for serving cells and/or intra-frequency neighbor cells. A base station may further configure a UE with a discovery reference signals (DRS) measurement timing configuration (DMTC), which may include an extended DMTC search window. The UE may search for DRS transmissions from neighbor cells according to the DMTC.
