Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a block error rate (BLER) in non-terrestrial network (NTN) communications may be reduced through coverage enhancement techniques. Coverage enhancement techniques may include slot bundling for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) communications, in which repetitions of a PDCCH may occupy multiple time-frequency locations spanning multiple slots. Such slots can be consecutive or non-consecutive, and in some cases multiple repetitions of the PDCCH may be provided within the same slot. The pattern of the time-frequency locations of repetitions may be periodic or non-periodic. Further, the repetitions can be exact copies, or different redundancy versions of the same encoded DCI. Additionally, repetitions of uplink or downlink shared channel communications, uplink or downlink control channel communication, broadcast channel communications, or any combinations thereof, may be provided.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating on-demand ephemeris and beam information requests are disclosed herein. An example method for wireless communication at a UE includes transmitting a request for requested information, the requested information including one or more of system information and satellite information. The example method also includes receiving a response message based on the request, the response message including one or more of: an NTN system information block, satellite information associated with at least one requested communication satellite, and beam information associated with the at least one requested communication satellite.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a coordinate switch indication that indicates that the UE is to calculate a first value of a new ephemeris coordinate of a plurality of coordinates. The UE may calculate the first value of the new ephemeris coordinate based on one or more other ephemeris coordinates of the plurality of ephemeris coordinates and may generate ephemeris information, associated with a non-terrestrial communication device, based on the calculation of the first value of the new ephemeris coordinate. The UE may communicate with the non-terrestrial communication device based on the ephemeris information. Numerous other aspects are described.

INITIATING RANDOM ACCESS IN A TARGET CELL IN A NON-TERRESTRIAL NETWORK

Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to dynamically controlling a time when random access initiated in a target cell of a non-terrestrial network. For example, when a user equipment (UE) detects an event that triggers a random access procedure in the target cell, the UE may monitor a control channel from the target cell for a control signal during a target cell monitoring window prior to initiating random access in the target cell. For example, the control signal may include a dynamic indication to identify UEs allowed to initiate random access, whereby a UE is not permitted to autonomously start contention-based random access in the target cell during the target cell monitoring window unless the UE has received the control signal. In this way, the target cell may regulate a rate at which UEs initiate the RACH procedure in order to manage congestion in the target cell.
