摘要:
Apparatus and methods are disclosed for imaging surfaces that comprise a sample. One embodiment of the present invention is an imaging apparatus comprising a holder for a surface, a light source adapted to illuminate the surface, a diffractive element between the holder and the light source and an imaging detector adapted to receive light from the surface. In a method for imaging a surface comprising a plurality of discrete features, light is selectively diffracted on to one or more predetermined features of the surface at a predetermined point in time. This step is repeated until substantially all of the features on the surface are illuminated. Light is detected from the surface to thereby image the surface.

An apparatus for enhancing the collection of optical signals comprises a waveguide, which comprises a structure in a channel adapted for the flow of assay fluid. In one embodiment, fluorophore is coupled to a surface of the structure, where the fluorophore has a receptor for an analyte (ligand) in the assay fluid and the structure is adapted to transmit optical signals from the fluorophore to a detector that is adapted to detect optical signals from the fluorophore coupled to the waveguide.

A method of detecting a non-fixed object in a system (12) includes applying a light emitting or generating substance to multiple objects. The objects are illuminated with an object illuminator (13). At least one of the objects (10) is determined to be a nonmember within a known pattern of objects and is identified to be a non-fixed object in response to illumination of the objects.
摘要:
An apparatus for measuring fluorescence from a sample, where an excitation system includes optical fibers or optical fiber bundles each starting from two or more lasers and mingled so as to form a single optical fiber bundle. Excitation light beams can be passed separately or simultaneously directly via this optical fiber bundle or via a common optical fiber bundle to a sample.

Systems, devices and methods are provided for viewing a pattern of fluorophors capable of fluorescing when exposed to visible light, e.g., fluorescently stained DNA, protein or other biological material. The system includes a light source emitting light in the visible spectrum, such as a fluorescent lamp used in domestic lighting, a first optical filter capable of transmitting light from the source at wavelengths capable of exciting the fluorophors and of absorbing light of other wavelengths, and a second optical filter capable of blocking substantially all the light from the source not blocked by the first filter, so that the only light reaching the viewer is light produced by fluorescence of the fluorophors.

In a method for non-destructively testing the curing level of the cured product of a curable adhesive composition, a fluorescent component that emits fluorescent light upon irradiation with excitation light is added to the curable adhesive composition, the curable adhesive composition containing this fluorescent component is cured, the cured product thus obtained is irradiated with excitation light, and the fluorescent light thus produced is observed to test the curing level of the cured product.

An automated method and system for determining an optimal focus distance for scanning a molecular array scanner. Blocks of rows of a reference array are automatically scanned at successively greater distances of the stage from a light gathering medium, such as an optical fiber, or z-positions, to produce data providing a functional relationship between z-position and measured signal intensities. The data is then processed by a peak-height-based, or window-based, focus-finding routine that selects an optimal focus-distance for data scans.
摘要:
A method for measurement of a target substance in a sample by means of fluorescence, which comprises the step of carrying out the measurement in the presence of (1) a specific fluorescent probe which specifically reacts with the target substance to generate fluorescence, and (2) a donor which, per se, has long-lived fluorescence and is capable of inducing fluorescence resonance energy transfer to the specific fluorescent probe that acts as an acceptor, provided that the donor forms no binding to the specific fluorescent probe by means of a chemical bond; and the step of converting fluorescence, wherein said fluorescence is resulted from a reaction between the acceptor and the target substance, into long-lived excitation fluorescence by the fluorescence resonance energy transfer which is induced on the acceptor.
