    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an arrangement (6) for controlling an entrance hole (2) of a beehive (1) of a beehive with bees, comprising a closure element (11) for at least partially closing the entrance hole (2). According to the present disclosure, the arrangement (6) comprises at least one identification unit (5) arrangeable or arranged on a queen bee (4), a reading unit (7) for reading out the at least one identification unit (5), wherein the reading unit (7) or at least one antenna unit (8) of the reading unit (7) is arrangeable or arranged at the entrance hole (2), and an actuation unit (12), in particular coupled with the reading unit (7), for actuating the closure element (11). Moreover, the present disclosure relates to a method for controlling an entrance hole (2) of a beehive (1).

    Abstract: An apiary tool for breaking free and vertically lifting, removing, inspecting and transporting a frame from a bee hive box. The apiary tool having one or more handles, a cross member and one or more lever cams, where a lever cam includes a cam that slides underneath a bee hive frame top bar and an arcuate rolling surface. Rotation of a handle providing dual action that forces the arcuate rolling surface to hold down an adjacent frame while the lever cam pushes upward on the desired frame.

    Abstract: Aspects of this disclosure include a system for providing non-contact, computer-vision based monitoring of the health and pollination activity of a beehive. The system may include camera positioned proximate to a beehive. The camera may include an onboard processor that analyzes video of the beehive captured by the camera and calculates an activity value that estimates a number of bees moving about the beehive. The video calculated activity values may be uploaded to a server where they can be accessed via a user device. The user device may allow the user to display interactive plots of the activity values over a variety of time bases. The disclosed beehive monitoring system relies on relatively lost-cost hardware and requires neither modification to the hive nor special constraints on the placement of the camera.

    Abstract: A beehive assembly has a column of hive bodies which are releasably connected to a vertical metal spine. Upper and lower metal pivot members extend between the spine and a post mounted to the ground. The upper pivot members extend away from the post and include a removable handle. Depressing the handle causes the column of hive bodies to ascend into an operating position where the bee colony within the hive bodies is elevated above the ground. Raising the handle brings the hive column to a lowered position for access by a beekeeper. A latch or latches are disposed to secure the pivot members with respect to the post at desired elevations. Springs extending between the post and the spine assist the beekeeper when raising or lowering the hive and cushion the lowering.

    Abstract: There is provided herein an universal inner cover for a beehive which has a plate having a perimeter, and an upper surface and an opposing lower surface; and, a housing which is disposed on the upper surface of the plate having a perimeter which is smaller than the perimeter of the plate and which has four interconnected side sidewalls which are orthogonal to the upper surface of the plate. The plate's upper surface can be convex and the opposing lower surface can be convex. The housing can have a layer of insulation disposed therein, which can optionally contain cut-outs to hold various components for beehives.

    Abstract: A system for delivery of a substance into a hive box of a beehive is provided. The hive box includes a wall and a plurality of comb support members mounted on the wall and the beehive has a bee space located adjacent to the comb support members, oriented in a plane substantially perpendicular to the wall.     Abstract: A Murder Hornet excluder is described. The excluder is made from a mesh that has openings large enough to let both queen and worker bees in and out, but too small to allow the much larger hornets to invade. It has a stepped top, two sides and a bottom that “wrap around” the entrance to a beehive. The stepped top extends the front several inches in front of the opening to the hive to give honeybees a “safe cage”, with adequate room to begin flight and descend after passing through the excluder. In a preferred embodiment, the mesh is between 6 mm and 10 mm on a side.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media are provided for monitoring the state of a periodic system. A computer implemented method for modeling a state of a periodic system includes inputting a spectrogram sequence to a machine-learning model trained to generate a latent representation from the spectrogram sequence. The spectrogram sequence includes a plurality of audio spectrograms representing sound generated by a periodic system. The method includes outputting the latent representation from the machine learning model. The method includes concatenating the latent representation with environmental data describing an environment of the periodic system, together defining an input sequence. The method includes inputting the input sequence to a predictor model trained to predict a state of the periodic system from the input sequence. The method also includes predicting the state of the periodic system with the predictor model.

    Abstract: A container for a nucleus hive of bees including a box having a polygonal shaped bottom and a plurality of side walls. Each one of the plurality of side walls extends upwardly from an edge of the polygonal shaped bottom. A side edge of each side wall is attached to a side edge of an adjacent side wall and upper edges of the side walls form an opening. The opening has an area larger than the area of the polygonal shaped bottom and a shape substantially corresponding to the polygonal shaped bottom. A hive frame support means is positioned on inner wall surfaces of a plurality of the side walls. A polygonal shaped removable lid is configured to rest upon and cover the opening. The box and lid are preferably formed from a rigid commodity grade plastic material.
