    摘要: A call set-up system sets up a call, which may be a voice call, between terminals through a plurality of packet switched networks using call agents. The networks are interconnected by network address translation (NAT) devices, and the messages to successive call agents include media addresses in the associated networks tor the actual data packets ot the call when it has been set up. The call set-up message includes the media address sent to at least some preceding call agents enabling NAT resources to be saved. The call agents can be incorporated into NAT devices, and the media addresses can be encrypted or in the form of a reference.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a method and system for determining devices connected to a private network through a gateway. A Network Management System (NMS) through the use of inquiries and Port Address Translation (PAT) commands is able to determine the topology of the network of devices within a private network and thus communicate with them. This is achieved through the use of Port Address Translation (PAT) initiated by the NMS to set a port for each device connected to the gateway.

    摘要: An intra-session network correlation system receives a stream of network events and groups the events into different network sessions according to event parameters and corresponding network address translation (NAT) information. An event in the stream is first matched against any existing session, and then categorized using the information about a NAT device that translates a message to which the event is related. Finally, at a predefined time, a categorized event is processed to identify other categorized events in accordance with a NAT message or an expiry timer associated with the categorized event; the categorized event and identified other categorized events are grouped into the same network session.

    摘要: In a monitoring system for networked devices, a system, method, and computer program product for obtaining a globally-unique identifier for a network device, and sending the same to a central monitor responsible for monitoring devices on multiple networks. A remote monitoring workstation monitors devices connected to a network using IP-based SNMP commands and stores the device monitoring information in a database. The remote monitoring workstation queries the database to obtain an IP address and the collected monitoring information for a device, uses the IP address to request a globally-unique identifier (e.g., a MAC address) from a device using SNMP commands, then sends the monitoring information including the globally-unique device identifier to a central monitoring workstation via an e-mail message.

    摘要: Enabling a host system to communicate with and to identify at least one client device that communicates with the host system through a network address translator device includes enabling communications from a first client device through the network address translator device. A data packet is received that includes a payload portion and an attribute portion, where the attribute portion includes a destination address that indicates a destination for the data packet and a nearest source address. A portion of the received data packet other than the nearest source address is examined for a host-assigned identifier that identifies a client device that communicated the received data packet. The received data packet typically is processed in accordance with predetermined host system controls accessible to the host system for the first client device identified, such as host-enabled parental controls.
