摘要: Methods for determining whether the brain activity of a human subject in response to a stimulus of interest or question of interest is characteristic of a state of interest, such as a deceptive state or a truthful state, are disclosed. Some methods include the use of control questions, including truthful control questions and deceptive control questions, to provide bases for comparison for responses to stimuli of interest or questions of interest. Some methods include the use of differences between two states, such as a deceptive state and a truthful state. In some methods, brain maps are generated and compared. Also disclosed are systems for detecting deception by measuring brain activity.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a rapid, automated, and objective method for using oculomotor measures to determine whether a person is being truthful or deceitful. More specifically, embodiments of the present invention measure a plurality of oculomotor and behavioral dependent measures while a subject reads and responds to written items that are both related and unrelated to a suspected crime. The oculomotor and behavioral measures may include pupil diameter, response times, the number of fixations during reading, the time spent reading and rereading items, and the rate of eye blinks on the current and subsequent item. Several behavioral and oculomotor measures were diagnostic of deception, and a weighted combination of four of those variables correctly classified 84% of guilty and 89% of innocent subjects.

摘要: In part, one aspect of the invention relates to a portable, handheld biosensor device that is held between two fingers of the same hand or otherwise contacts two points on a user's skin. The sensor device includes a pair of conductive or semi-conductive electrodes and associated circuitry designed to sense, amplify and digitize the electrical conductance of the skin between the electrodes. The device can additionally be configured to sense additional biometrics from the fingers, including blood oxygenation and skin temperature. Digitized biometric values are transmitted wirelessly (or via direct wire connection, such as a USB cable) to a computing device where the data is utilized to generate a control parameter in a software application whose purpose is to provide anxiety biofeedback or entertainment.

摘要: The psycho/physiological deception detection (PDDS) is a system and method employing PDDS tools to ensure patient truthfulness while conducting a patient interview to assess the severity of pain suffered by the patient and to assess the risk that the patient will divert controlled substances prescribed for the patient to an illicit use. The patient is monitored using the PDDS tool while making an oral response (either live or off-site) to each question in the interview, and a response and a measure of truthfulness of the patient generated from the PDDS monitoring is correlated with each question. Deceptive responses may be probed by asking refining questions to explore possible innocent explanation for a deceptive response. Based on the patient's responses and the indication of truthfulness for each response, a report is generated from which the patient's risk for diverting prescribed medication and the patient's severity of pain may be assessed.

摘要: Thermal infrared image data of at least a region of a face of a person in an enclosure is provided. The enclosure, for example, may include a first enclosed volume and a second enclosed volume physically separated from the first enclosed volume. The first enclosed volume may include an entrance door sized to allow a person to enter the first enclosed volume. The enclosure provides a controlled environment for performing measurements (e.g., capturing thermal infrared image data) for use in determining a physiological state of a person (e.g., anxiety, deception, etc.).

摘要: This invention provides method and system for measuring changes in the brain activity of an individual by functional brain imaging methods for investigative purposes, e.g., detecting and assessing whether an individual is being truthful or deceptive, and/or whether an individual has a prior knowledge of a certain face or object. The invention combines recent progress in medical brain imaging, computing and neuroscience to produce an accurate and objective method of detection of deception and concealed prior knowledge based on an automated analysis of the direct measurements of brain activity. Applying the paradigm developed from the deception model, and applying it to an individual viewing media information (e.g., audiovisual messages or movies, or announcements), the data is used to interpret the effect of the information on that individual. This permits the effective manipulation of the content of the media segments to achieve maximal desired impact in target populations or on specific individuals.
